Contact Name: Karen Timmerman, Director of Human Resources The Prince Albert Grand Council is now accepting applications from qualified individuals for the position of Indigenous Nurse Liaison emergency department based in the emergency department at Victoria Hospital. Reporting to the Manager of Saskatchewan Health Authority Emergency, the Indigenous Nurse Liaison is responsible for providing clinical nursing care in a fast-paced emergency setting.
Main Duties
- Clinical nursing care in a quick-paced emergency setting
- Patient navigation and advocacy for First Nations and Metis patients and familie
- Cultural liaison work, including facilitating access to Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and traditional healing practices
- Discharge planning and case coordination with community and healthcare services.
- Health education, counseling, and crisis intervention
- Cultural safety leadership for patients, families, and healthcare teams
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) or equivalent
- Registered or eligible for registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan
- At least 2 years of relevant healthcare experience
- Experience working with First Nations and Metis populations is preferred
- Indigenous language skills are considered an asset

- Strong understanding of First Nations and Metis cultures and holistic health approaches
- Knowledge of social determinants of health and healthcare systems
- Crisis intervention and counseling abilities
- Solid communication, organization, and teamwork skills
- Commitment to cultural safety and ongoing learning
