Job Title: Intermediate Electrical Designer

Annual Salary Range: $80,000-$95,000
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Intermediate Electrical Designer to join our team in a full-time, in-office position. This is an excellent prospect for an experienced designer looking to further develop their expertise in electrical engineering and consulting while contributing to a diverse range of projects.

We work on projects across Greater Vancouver, the BC Interior, Vancouver Island, and Alberta, providing exposure to a variety of clients, project types, and communities.
Our office is centrally located near Gilmore SkyTrain station in Burnaby, BC, with flexibility to work remotely on select days.
Role Overview:
Working closely with the Principals, you will support a variety of projects and further develop your expertise across multiple areas of electrical engineering, including project management, design and drawings, site reviews, consulting practices, and business development. As an Intermediate Electrical Designer, you will contribute to projects from initial design through completion, collaborating with clients, consultants, contractors, and other project stakeholders while taking ownership of assigned design work and deliverables. You’ll work alongside experienced industry professionals while continuing to build your technical, project management, and client-facing skills.
A typical day in the office might include brewing a fresh coffee, checking emails, organizing project tasks, design and markup drawings, performing calculations, coordinating design requirements, preparing technical reports, conducting a site visit, and supporting project administration. Some days may wrap up with a client meeting or networking event.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare electrical designs and AutoCAD drawings in accordance with established design standards and project requirements.
- Perform electrical design calculations, including conductor sizing and overcurrent protection, and develop lighting, lighting control, and power schematic designs.
- Ensure design checklists, AutoCAD standards, and internal quality control procedures are consistently followed.
- Prepare technical reports, specifications, and other electrical project documentation.
- Conduct site visits and field reviews to assess existing conditions, verify design requirements, and support project delivery.
- Manage assigned projects through the project lifecycle, including concept design, detailed design, construction administration, and project close-out.
- Coordinate with Principals, clients, consultants, contractors, and other project stakeholders to support successful project delivery.
- Collaborate with Principals to develop and implement internal processes, design standards, and quality check procedures
- Maintain accurate and organized engineering records, drawings, project files, and technical data.
- Support project administration, including invoices, expenses, documentation, and other operational duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience + Education
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field required.
- EIT or P.Eng registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC)
- 3-5 years of experience in the building electrical systems design and consulting industry
- A valid driver's license and access to a reliable mode of transportation for conducting site visits
Skills + Abilities
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, circuits, and engineering principles
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, electrical drawings
- Strong knowledge of applicable Building Codes and Electrical Codes
- Strong working knowledge of engineering design software (ie. AutoCAD)
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
- Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrates professionalism, sound judgement, and accountability
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
