Schedule: Thursday or occasionally Fridays. 6 hours per week

Summary:

The Janitor will clean, sanitize and maintain areas by providing cleaning services for the parish church.

Position Responsibilities:

- Clean and sanitize rooms, bathrooms, and common areas.
- Dust and polish furniture and fixtures.
- Clean windows, mirrors, and other glass surfaces.
- As requested, organize items and tidy up spaces.
- Vacuum, sweep, and mop floors.
- Removes trash.
- Replenish restroom supplies.
- Ensure high standards of cleanliness and presentation.
- Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards.
- Maintain cleaning equipment and supplies.
- Maintain the security of issued keys, secure buildings, turn off lights and set thermostats.
- Adhering to safety training and protocols on a daily basis and taking precautionary measures to ensure the safety and well-being of self and others.
- Any other duties assigned by priest or parochial vicar.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Sufficient education and literacy needed to identify and read product labels.
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in cleaning including dusting, mopping, sweeping, and vacuuming.

Minimum Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:

- Ability to communicate with various levels of staff
- Complete a safe environment course and pass criminal background check
- Ensure compliance with health and safety standards




- Ability to resolve and reduce conflict.

Requirements Qualifications:

1. Should possess good interpersonal and communication skills.
2. Prior custodian / janitorial experience preferred.
3. Ability to perform with minimal daily supervision.
4. Knowledge and/ or experience working with cleaning equipment and chemicals

Physical Demands:

1. Spend 80-90% of work time standing/ squatting/ lifting/ kneeling doing a wide variety of moderate physical activity.

Work Environment:

1. Relate well, communicate professionally and courteously with staff, volunteers, parishioners, children.
2. Maintain a neat appearance.
