Community Profile:

The Alexis Nakota Sioux Nation Education system operates 3 local schools: Waka Mne Elementary School (K-6) and Chief Aranazhi School (7-12) and Nikoodi Upgrading (18+). The successful applicant for this position will be based at Chief Aranazhi School, which serves a student body of approximately 140 learners.

Our community is located approximately 100 kilometers (one hour) northwest of Edmonton and just 30 minutes from Spruce Grove. We take excellent pride in our Nakota Sioux (Stoney) culture and language, and we include it in our educational programming.

This role is scheduled to begin with the 2026-2027 academic year. Requirements and Qualifications:

- Bachelor of Education from an accredited university;
- Teacher Qualifications Service (TQS) statement;
- At least one year of professional teaching experience;
- Proficiency in teaching all core subjects and compulsory high school courses;
- Deep respect for Nakota Sioux traditions, customs, and knowledge;
- Valid criminal record check and child welfare intervention check;
- Experience working with First Nations students and their families is preferred.
