SUMMARY The Kitchen Appliance Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and inspection of commercial kitchen equipment across a campus of facilities. This role ensures that all kitchen appliances and food service equipment operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable health, safety, and manufacturer standards.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Maintenance
- Performs scheduled preventative maintenance of commercial kitchen equipment including coolers, ovens, warmers, deep fryers, mixers, blenders, steam ovens, warming plates, griddles, pizza ovens, dishwashers, coffee brewers, etc.
- Performs corrective maintenance and repairs.
- Troubleshoots performance issues and root causes.
- Diagnoses electrical, gas, refrigeration and control system issues.
- Creates detailed records of maintenance and repairs through a CMMS process.
- Update asset records.
- Co-ordinates with manufacturer contractors.
- Assists in replacement part procurement.
- Manages replacement part inventory.
- Escalates issues to the mechanical team lead.
- Provides basic function and cleaning training to user groups.
- Ability to work evenings.
- Be a part of an on call rotation.
- Other duties as assigned.
Client Relations
- Assists in enhancing tenant and customer satisfaction and maintaining positive relations through manner in which work is performed and services delivered.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
- High School diploma.
- Appliance service technician certificate.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience working on electrical and mechanical systems.
- Knowledge of preventative maintenance programs and asset management systems.
- Possesses a strong environmental, health and safety mindset.
- Robust client-service orientation along with a high sense of urgency.
- Technical diploma or certification in appliance repair, refrigeration, HVAC, electrical, gas fitting, or a related trade preferred.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
