The Municipal District of Bonnyville No. 87 invites applications for the position of casual Landfill Attendant. The successful candidate will contribute to the effective operation of the Waste Services Department by monitoring all landfill site activities, performing light maintenance, and directing the public in disposing of their solid waste and recyclable materials.

Duties & Responsibilities:

- Inspect loads to prohibit the disposal of unacceptable waste, according to government regulations, and to direct waste and recyclables to their designated locations.
- Monitor all landfill site activities during regular operating hours.
- Maintain positive public relations and respond to inquiries.
- Assist the public to dispose of oil, filters, and containers appropriately.
- Transparent snow from around the landfill office, transtor pads both top and bottom, and around waste and recycling bins.
- Maintain a presentable worksite by collecting loose litter, ensuring recyclables and other materials are disposed of properly and kept in their designated locations, and roadways are clear of debris.




- Participate in and actively promote the Occupational Health and Safety program including electronic daily site-specific hazard assessments and monthly site inspections.
- Maintain positive personnel relations with other staff and contractors.
- Use a magnet sweep to remove nails and other metals from driving surfaces.
- Attend monthly safety meetings and ensure that safe work practices are followed by staff and the public who enter the site.
- Perform other duties within the scope of the position as required.

Qualifications:

- Grade 12 diploma preferable.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license in good standing.
- Ability to work alone with minimal supervision.
- ATV/UTV operator certification or experience is considered an asset.
- Hazardous and Special Products (HHW) certification is considered an asset.
