About CasCom

CasCom is a Yellowknife-based telecommunications and IT services company. We keep mine sites, exploration camps, government offices, Indigenous organizations and schools across the NWT and Nunavut connected — two-way radio systems, satellite internet, sat phones, and the IT behind them. A lot of what we do involves getting the right equipment to the right remote site, on time, in one piece, in places where the road is only open in winter and the barge only comes once a year.

The role

We're adding a Logistics & Shipping Coordinator to our operations team. This is a hands-on role based in our shop and warehouse, not a desk job. You'll own the physical flow of equipment in and out of the building — receiving vendor shipments, checking them against purchase orders, staging and packing gear for camp deployments, booking freight to remote communities, turning around our rental fleet, and keeping our inventory counts honest — plus the purchasing paperwork that goes with it: raising POs, chasing vendor confirmations and backorders, and matching packing slips to what we ordered.

You'll work day-to-day with our Procurement Specialist and our Service Manager, taking the shipping, receiving and stock-handling work off their plate so they can focus on customers and projects.

What you'll do

Shipping & receiving

- Receive incoming freight and courier deliveries; unpack, inspect for damage, and check quantities against purchase orders
- Log received goods into our inventory system and put stock away in the right place
- Pack, label and ship outgoing equipment; prepare waybills, commercial documents and packing lists
- Book and track shipments by courier, air cargo, winter road and sealift/barge to sites across the NWT and Nunavut
- Track shipments in transit and chase carriers and vendors on late or missing items
- Handle returns to vendors (RMAs) and warranty shipments

Inventory & warehouse

- Maintain accurate stock counts for resale products, project equipment and spare parts
- Run cycle counts and support the annual year-end physical inventory count
- Keep the warehouse, garage and yard organized,

labelled and safe
- Flag low stock and reorder points to the Procurement Specialist

Purchasing support

- Enter purchase orders in our system from approved requests and send them to vendors
- Confirm order acknowledgements, pricing and ship dates; track backorders and update expected arrival dates on the related tickets and projects
- Check product availability and lead times with our regular distributors and manufacturers when the Procurement Specialist needs a quick answer
- Match packing slips and vendor invoices to purchase orders and flag discrepancies (short shipments, wrong parts, price differences)
- Maintain vendor contact and account details, and keep the product/parts database current (part numbers, descriptions, costs)
- Coordinate vendor returns, credits and warranty claims through to closure

Equipment staging & rentals

- Stage, kit and pack radio, satellite and networking equipment for project deployments and seasonal camps
- Prepare rental equipment (radios, sat phones, Starlink kits) for pickup, and check it back in on return — condition, accessories, chargers, SIMs
- Deliver and pick up equipment locally with a company vehicle

Fleet & facility support

- Keep the company vehicle fleet on schedule for oil changes, tires, inspections and repairs; take vehicles to the shop
- Support building and yard upkeep as needed (snow, waste, trailers)

General

- Enter your time daily in our tracking system
- Follow CasCom safety policies and practices; complete WHMIS and TDG training (we'll provide it)
- Provide backup coverage at the front counter when the primary staff are busy or away: answer and route incoming calls, help walk-in customers with equipment pickups, drop-offs and rental returns,

and sign for deliveries

What we're looking for

- 1–3 years in shipping/receiving, warehouse, parts, or logistics work — or a strong willingness to learn, with a solid work ethic
- Comfortable with physical work: lifting up to 50 lb, working in the shop and outdoors in all seasons
- Organized and accurate — you notice when a box count is off by one
- Comfortable working in email, spreadsheets and a purchasing/inventory system; experience raising POs or tracking vendor orders is a strong asset
- Valid Class 5 driver's licence with a clean abstract (required)
- Bondable
- Assets: WHMIS, TDG (Transportation of Dangerous Goods — we ship lithium batteries), forklift certification, experience shipping to northern/remote communities, familiarity with two-way radio or satellite equipment

What we offer

- Hourly wage of $28–$34 depending on experience
- Group health advantages after probation (50/50 employer-matched)
- Stat holidays, vacation pay and overtime per NWT Employment Standards
- Monday–Friday daytime schedule, 40 hours/week
- A small, stable team and work that actually matters to communities across the North

How to apply Apply through Indeed with a résumé. A short note on any shipping, warehouse or northern logistics experience helps. We thank all applicants; only those selected for an interview will be contacted.

CasCom is committed to a respectful, inclusive workplace and encourages applications from Indigenous candidates and northern residents.
