Duties
- Safely operate long-haul trucks across regional or national routes, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations
- Transport freight efficiently while maintaining accurate delivery schedules and documentation
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, including checking brakes, tires, lights, and fluid levels
- Utilize forklift and heavy equipment operation skills for loading and unloading freight at warehouses or distribution centers
- Secure cargo properly using straps, tarps, or other equipment to prevent shifting or damage during transit
- Perform basic automotive repairs or troubleshooting as needed to ensure vehicle reliability on long trips
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, clients, and team members to coordinate pickups, deliveries, and route adjustments
Experience
- Proven experience in commercial driving with a clean driving record and valid CDL (Commercial Driver’s License)
- Familiarity with freight handling procedures and heavy equipment operation such as forklifts
- Knowledge of safety protocols related to long-distance trucking and cargo securement
- Ability to perform basic automotive repairs and troubleshoot mechanical issues independently
- Strong navigation skills and familiarity with GPS systems for efficient route planning
- Excellent communication skills for clear reporting and coordination during trips
