Since then, Caleo Health has continued to grow and now provides a broad range of health care services, including Family Medicine, Rheumatology, Headache and Migraine care, and other specialized medical services.
Position OverviewCaleo Health's Family Medicine department is seeking a full time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our busy multidisciplinary primary care team in NW Calgary.
The successful candidate will provide high-quality, patient-centred nursing care to patients across the lifespan while working collaboratively with physicians, nurse practitioners, LPNs, Medical Office Assistants (MOAs), and other members of the health care team.

Nursing ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities may include:
- Obtain and document vital signs as clinically appropriate
- Perform blood pressure screening, including routine screening for patients over 40 years of age
- Prepare patients and examination rooms for physical examinations, gynecological examinations, and office procedures
- Assist physicians and nurse practitioners with procedures such as IUD insertions, skin lesion/mole removals, injections, and other minor procedures
- Assist with infant and pediatric assessments, including baby checks and well-child visits
- Administer medications, vaccinations, and injections within scope of practice and clinic policy
- Communicate results and follow-up instructions to patients as directed by the most responsible provider
- Contact patients regarding follow-up appointments, investigations, symptoms, and treatment plans
- Manage INR-related communications and relay urgent or critical clinical information to physicians or nurse practitioners
- Conduct appropriate follow-up regarding reported signs and symptoms
- Recognize urgent or emergent situations and initiate appropriate action, including calling EMS when necessary
- Provide support to patients and clinicians during medical emergencies until EMS arrives
- Document nursing care and patient communication accurately in the electronic medical record
Administrative ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities may include:
- Respond to patient inquiries by telephone or in person
- Ensure patient demographic and contact information is accurate and current
- Prepare required labels and documentation for controlled or monitored prescriptions
- Assist with ordering vaccines and coordinating seasonal vaccination clinics
- Assist with WCB-related documentation and processes
- Fax prescriptions and process related pharmacy or insurance requests as directed
- Assist with referrals, forms, and supporting documentation when required
- Coordinate communication between patients, pharmacies, specialists, and other health care providers
- Support the clinical team with administrative tasks when required
Clinical and Clinic Support Responsibilities
- Ensure examination rooms are appropriately stocked with required medical supplies
- Maintain procedure carts and ensure necessary supplies are readily available
- Monitor clinical inventory and notify the appropriate team member when supplies need to be reordered
- Prepare and clean examination rooms according to infection prevention and clinic standards
- Assist with maintaining a clean, organized, safe, and productive clinical environment
- Support physicians, nurse practitioners, nursing staff, MOAs, and other clinic team members as required
- Perform other duties within scope and as reasonably required by the clinic
QualificationsRequired:
- Completion of an approved Practical Nursing program
- Current registration and good standing as an LPN in Alberta
- Current CPR/BLS certification
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced primary care environment
- Comfortable using electronic medical records and computer-based systems
Preferred:
- Previous experience in Family Medicine, Primary Care, Urgent Care, or a busy outpatient clinic
- Experience with TELUS CHR
- Experience using Alberta Netcare
- Current medication administration, immunization, and injection competencies
- Experience assisting with minor office procedures
- Experience caring for both adult and pediatric patients
