Head of Communications, Canada As the Manager, Communications, you will have the exciting opportunity to develop, shape and implement strategic communications programs related to company and brand public relations, employee communications and engagement, while providing counsel and support for media relations and issues management. This position will report to the Canada Communications Leader and will work closely with colleagues across Global and North America Corporate Affairs, as well as in close partnership with the end-to-end team in Canada (including Legal, Regulatory, Compliance and Commercial partners). This is a fixed term contract opportunity with an anticipated end date of December 31st, 2027.
Protect and enhance the reputation and equities of our portfolio of brands by providing strategic counsel on Public Relations strategies, ensuring alignment with Global/North America Communications & Global Corporate Affairs Manage agency and external partner relationships to ensure delivery of high-quality outcomes aligned to business objectives, and provide recommendations to optimize plans based on insights and key learnings Support the planning and execution of communications responses to reputation-sensitive issues, ensuring clear, timely and consistent messaging and stakeholder engagement. Including business preparedness and communications readiness activities. Develop high-quality communications materials including key messages, executive communications, presentations, briefing documents, media materials and stakeholder updates.
Develop and execute compelling internal communications programs and events to inform, engage and align colleagues to our Canadian business strategy and shape our company culture (examples include Town Hall meetings, all colleague communications, etc.) Measure and evaluate communications activities, identifying opportunities to strengthen effectiveness and impact. Create internal and external executive communications strategies for the Managing Director, Canada and prepare leaders for media opportunities as well as internal and external events. Demonstrate robust understanding of the Canadian media landscape (traditional and digital) including identifying emerging trends and opportunities to differentiate our brands and organization through innovative PR and communications approaches.
Champion storytelling and customer-centric positioning in all media messaging and across digital channels, including owned platforms and other assets. Support the Leader, Communications in identifying and developing strong relationships with key influencers, media, industry and stakeholder partners, etc. to amplify and protect the reputation of the Canadian business. marketing, professional teams, customer development, etc.), providing support with various communications needs, including, announcements and social media posts Liaise with the Global and North America Consumer Communications teams to share insights and key learnings Contribute to broader communications and business initiatives as needed. A minimum Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or other related field Demonstrated 7+ years of experience in Corporate Communications, Corporate Affairs or PR Agency required,
preferably with experience in a Healthcare and/or Consumer Packaged Goods industry Proven track record in developing successful working relationships with senior executives Experience dealing with national and local media, trade and social media, and/or professional/trade and third-party organizations Experience leading Internal Communications strategy and execution as well as working with and managing Public Relations campaigns and execution Exceptional writing and communication skills Demonstrated strategic agility to lead multiple projects of high complexity across teams are required.
Proven track records in leading multiple projects and changing priorities Strong communication, collaboration and influencing skills English/French bilingualism Digital and social media experience is an asset Experience with Microsoft Tools (word, excel, powerpoint), graphic design, photoshop, photography/videography/editing capabilities are all considered assets for this position This takes into account a number of factors including work location, the candidate’s skills, experience, education level & other job-related factors.
