Reporting to the Director, External Communications, the Manager, External Communications leads the TTC's external and capital communications strategy, media relations program, and thought leadership initiatives. This role is responsible for developing and executing communications plans that inform and engage stakeholders on transit expansion projects, capital investments, and key corporate priorities. The successful candidate will lead a team responsible for media relations, issues management, stakeholder outreach, speeches, briefing materials, news releases, and executive communications.
Working closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams, they will translate complex and technical information into clear, impactful messaging while ensuring consistency across all communication channels. This is an exciting opportunity for a strategic and collaborative communications leader with strong media relations expertise, exceptional writing skills,
experience managing high-profile issues, and the ability to build effective partnerships with organizations such as the City of Toronto, Metrolinx, and regional transportation partners. Participate in the TTC Customer Service Ambassador Program.
Plan and organize activities / projects to meet section and organizational goals Use office technology, software and applications Completion of a post-secondary degree/diploma in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field, combined with progressive corporate communications experience or the equivalent, along with several years of directly related work experience.
Experience leading communications teams and managing cross-functional stakeholders. Strong expertise in corporate communications, media relations, public relations, and journalism. Exceptional writing, editing, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills. Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and tight deadlines.
Experience translating complex information into clear, engaging communications.
