Richmond Hill
Marketing Student – Marketing & Community Engagement Coordinator
Stagecoach Performing Arts Vaughan & Richmond Hill
Temporary 3-Month Project | Part-Time | Adaptable Schedule | Richmond Hill/Vaughan + Remote
Stagecoach Performing Arts Vaughan & Richmond Hill is looking for a current university or college marketing student for a three-month marketing and community engagement project.
We're particularly interested in a second-year Marketing student who has developed a foundation in marketing principles and is now looking for an opportunity to put those skills into practice, build their portfolio and gain meaningful hands-on experience.
This is a temporary, three-month position, with the possibility of additional projects or future opportunities based on business needs, performance and mutual interest.
This isn't a position where you'll spend three months watching someone else do the work.
You'll work directly with the owner of a growing performing arts school and have genuine responsibility for helping us increase awareness, reach new families and grow enrollment throughout Richmond Hill and Vaughan.
We'll provide the goals, priorities and understanding of our families and community — but we don't expect you to simply follow a predetermined marketing playbook.
We want you to help write it.
You'll have the freedom to bring what you're learning in school — along with your own ideas, interests and expertise — to the role. If you see an opportunity we haven't considered, we want to hear about it. If you think something we're doing could be done better, tell us. And if there's a strategy you've learned about that you think could work for Stagecoach, you'll have the opportunity to put it into practice and measure the results.
What You'll Do
Your primary objective during this three-month project will be to help us reach more families and increase student enrollment, while also helping us build marketing systems and strategies that can continue beyond the project.
Your responsibilities may include
- Developing and executing local marketing initiatives
- Creating social media and digital content
- Helping develop and execute email marketing campaigns
- Following up with prospective families and marketing leads
- Improving how we nurture leads from initial inquiry through registration
- Researching schools, community organizations and potential local partners
- Identifying school fairs, festivals,
family events and other promotional opportunities
- Building relationships with schools, school councils and community organizations
- Helping develop partnerships, sponsorships and community activations
- Conducting local market and competitor research
- Helping determine which marketing channels and activities are actually generating leads and enrollment
- Tracking marketing results and recommending changes
- Bringing your own marketing ideas and strategies to the business
This role may evolve based on your strengths. If you're particularly interested in digital marketing, content, analytics, community marketing, branding, events or another area, there is room to develop that expertise as part of the project.
Who We're Looking For
You must be currently enrolled in a post-secondary program, preferably in:
- Marketing
- Business with a Marketing concentration
- Communications
- Advertising
- Public Relations
- Digital Marketing
- or a closely related field
Second-year university or college students are preferred, although strong candidates at other stages of their studies are welcome to apply. We're looking for someone who:
- Wants practical marketing experience, not just another line on their résumé
- Is creative and comfortable proposing their own ideas
- Communicates well both verbally and in writing
- Is organized and dependable
- Understands or is learning contemporary digital and social media marketing
- Is interested in understanding what turns marketing activity into actual customers
- Can work independently while also asking questions when needed
- Is willing to experiment, measure results and learn from what works — and what doesn't
- Is comfortable communicating professionally with parents, schools, businesses and community organizations
Experience with social media management, Canva, Meta advertising, email marketing, CRM systems, photography/video, analytics or content creation is an asset, but we don't expect a student to already know everything. We're much more interested in curiosity, initiative and the ability to apply what you're learning.
What You'll Get From This Role
You'll have an unusual opportunity to see the direct relationship between marketing and business growth.
Rather than working on hypothetical assignments, you'll be able to develop ideas, execute them, measure what happens and see whether they result in increased awareness, leads, trials and ultimately new customers.
You'll work directly with the business owner, receive regular feedback and have significant opportunity to shape the direction of your work.
Our goal is that you finish the three-month project with real examples of campaigns, projects, results and business challenges you've worked on that you can discuss with future employers.
While this is initially a temporary project, a successful placement could lead to additional marketing projects and future opportunities with Stagecoach Vaughan & Richmond Hill.
