What’s Possible Operations Technician (2nd Class Power Engineer) The Operation Technician reports to the Chief Power Engineer/Site Supervisor and is responsible for safely operating, monitoring, and optimizing hydrogen production processes at the Scotford (Fort Saskatchewan) facility. The role supports the reliable operation of highly automated hydrogen production assets, including steam systems, compressors, rotating equipment, and distributed control systems (DCS). The incumbent works closely with Maintenance, Instrumentation, and Electrical teams to maintain safe, efficient, and reliable plant operations.

Lockout/Tagout procedures and issue Safe Work Permits.



Participate in safety committees, meetings, and continuous improvement initiatives. Work collaboratively with maintenance and technical support teams.

Prioritizes operational activities to maintain safe and reliable production. Coordinates with maintenance and technical teams regarding equipment performance and reliability concerns. Applies operating procedures, technical knowledge, and site standards to support plant performance.

Must be able to work 12-hour rotating day and night shifts. Must be capable of working in industrial operating environments and varying weather conditions. Must be able to perform field inspections and equipment rounds.

Second Class Power Engineering

Certificate; or Third Class Power Engineering Certificate with progress toward obtaining Second Class certification. High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum 5 years of plant operations experience.

Experience in industrial process operations, hydrogen, refining, petrochemical, utilities, or related industries preferred.

Experience working in safety-sensitive industrial environments. Mechanical aptitude.

Microsoft

Office proficiency. SAP knowledge preferred. Strong commitment to safety, environmental, and quality standards. The successful candidate must comply with Air Products Alcohol and Drug Policy requirements, including pre‑employment testing and other testing permitted by legislation and company policy.
