- Operations and Staff Readiness Manager (55997) Operations and Staff Readiness Manager 1 temporary, full-time position up to 18 months in duration The Transition Management Office will successfully transition the operation and maintenance of the Valley Line from the private operator TransEd to the City of Edmonton. This is a highly complex project with tight timelines that supports City Council direction provided earlier this year.

The Transition Management

Office team is also responsible for coordination of all integration, testing, and commissioning support for all Valley Line West infrastructure that is being transitioned to the City of Edmonton. This is complex integration work with tight deadlines that require coordination with multiple technical subject matter experts across the entire City. Reporting to the Director of the Transition Management Office, the Operations and Staff Readiness Manager oversees a team that includes Transit Inspectors and an instructor, with staffing levels subject to change based on project demands.

This role entails managing consultants, ensuring regulatory compliance by coordinating with diverse subject matter experts across Edmonton Transit Service. Additionally, the manager is responsible for understanding the TransEd train management software and work permitting processes, which includes setting up necessary service agreements and ensuring robust training and standard operating procedures. This position evaluates and aligns operational standard operating procedures, training programs, job hazard analyses, and organizational structures with City of Edmonton standards to ensure operational readiness.

Lead a multi-disciplinary team and external consultants to oversee operations, staffing,



and transition management activities for the Valley Line West project Coordinate with subject matter experts to ensure full regulatory compliance for the Valley Line Develop a thorough understanding of the Valley Line Schedule and train management software while establishing service agreements, training programs, and standard operating procedures to meet City of Edmonton’s benchmarks. Review and update operational workflows, job hazard analyses, and organizational structures to ensure seamless integration, testing, and commissioning of all infrastructure Anticipate business opportunities, influence policies, planning and initiatives, and foster a culture of accountability through performance measurement Build new and innovative collaborative partnerships with external agencies, levels of government, community organizations, and internal departments and branches Knowledge or training and/or education in Engineering, Project Management, Business Administration, or other related disciplines LRT Operations experience including train operations, train control systems, train control centers, and work permitting processes.

Experience in a senior leadership role within a large, complex organization Assets: Membership with the Project Management Institute (PMI) and Project Management Skilled (PMP) or a related designation(s) Additional training in financial management, public administration, government relations, project management, and/or change management Understanding of complex municipal subject matter and a proven ability to build influential relationships with internal and external partners Strong political acumen, strategic planning, issue resolution and decision-making skills Service excellence, embracing diversity and promoting inclusiveness Embracing a culture of equity, diversity, reconciliation and inclusion 1 temporary, full-time position up to 18 months in duration ~ Hours of Work: 36.9 hours per week, Monday - Friday.
