Job Purpose: Bus Driver is responsible to provide safe and effective transportation to and from school and school-related activities, working as part of a team to contribute to the growth and development of children and youth. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Ability to safely and confidently operate a school bus - Good working knowledge of The Highway and Transportation Act and The Traffic Safety Act - Good working knowledge of the Saskatchewan Driver's Handbook and Saskatchewan Commercial Driver's Handbook - Good understanding of, and ability to apply, a range of student behaviour strategies focused on positive reinforcement of desired behaviour - Demonstrated patience, maturity and experience working with children - Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Qualifications - Must hold and maintain a valid Saskatchewan Class 1-5 Driver's License - Must hold a valid School Bus Endorsement - training is available for non-licensed school bus drivers - Clear driver's abstract,



with no major infractions - A current Driver's Abstract from SGI detailing all (personal and commercial) driving records for the last 5 years must be submitted with your application - A copy of the abstract can be:

- Satisfactory medical examinations in accordance with The Highway Traffic Act - First Aid Certification or be willing to obtain one at Prairie Valley School Division's expense.

Working Conditions - Full time bus routes are paid at daily base rate of $58.63 plus a per km rate calculated at $0.23/km - The mileage for this route ispaid at the minimum of 90 kms for a total of $79.33 per day - 100% employer paid health benefits plan - Employer matched pension plan - Drivers with young children may take their children with them on the bus - Working in diverse climates and differing road conditions - Physical ability to load and unload students in wheelchairs may be required.
