The successful candidate will be working under the direction of our regulated healthcare professionals. The successful PSW will implement a wide variety of rehabilitation programming and ADL support with individuals that have been affected by a motor vehicle accident. The successful PSW will work with patients to identify treatment goals and objectives, implement and provide feedback, assess and reevaluate with the care team as required and provide clinical documentation as needed.
Position Requirements
- Valid Drivers License and Reliable Transportation and willing to travel across the GTA
- Valid Vulnerable Sector Check
- Graduate of an approved Personal Support Worker course in Ontario or equivalent
- Professional Liability Certificate
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide personal care and assistance with activities of daily living (bathing, toileting, skincare, light meal preparation, feeding etc) in personal residences or facilities
- Continually assesses, anticipates, identifies, and responds to new and changing needs of patients as well as provide feedback professionally and in a timely manner
- Perform delegated and/or assigned tasks under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, Occupational Therapist and/or Treatment/Rehabilitation Qualified
- Staff are required to travel within assigned region between patients’ residences or facilities
Qualifications
Education and Certificates
- Valid Personal Support Worker Certificate from a Ministry of Training, Colleges, and Universities or the Ministry of Education approved program
Physical ability to meet the demands of the job (ex: ability to stand, bend, walk, crouch, kneel and reach freely for extended periods, ability to lift 23 kg independently, ability to assist clients with standing, walking, sitting; able to reposition clients in bed)
- Valid Standard First Aid and Level C CPR
- Valid Vulnerable Sector Criminal Check
- Updated immunization record including TB Test (last 6 months)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional personal care and customer service
- Proficient verbal and written English communication skills
- Caring attitude and advocacy for clients
- Ability to work independently and also in a team environment
- Flexible and adaptable to change
Education:
- AEC / DEP or Skilled Trade Certificate (preferred)
Licence/Certification:
- Drivers License (preferred)
- Professional Liability Insurance (preferred)
- Valid PSW Certificate from an approved program (preferred)
