Piannova Mind & Music is seeking dedicated English Tutors to provide one-on-one online instruction to students across various grade levels.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in English education along with a genuine passion for helping students develop strong English skills and confidence in their learning.
Duties
- Provide engaging, one-on-one online tutoring sessions in English and Language Arts for students across various grade levels.
- Follow the BC curriculum and align tutoring sessions with the student’s current classroom learning.
- Review and follow the student’s school materials, teacher instructions, assignments and learning expectations whenever available.
- Help students develop strong skills in reading comprehension, writing, grammar, vocabulary, critical thinking and communication.
- Support students with essays, paragraph, presentations and other English assignments.
- Review students’ written work and provide explicit and constructive feedback
- Use technology effectively to support online instruction, student engagement, and learning.
- Maintain organized teaching materials using platforms such as Google Drive or Dropbox.
- Communicate promptly and professionally with students, parents,
and the operations team as required.
English Tutor Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in English or a related field is required. An advanced degree is an asset, particularly for high school and advanced English tutoring.
- Previous experience teaching or tutoring English is required
- Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to provide thoughtful and constructive feedback on student writing.
- Experience providing supplementary exercises and learning materials is preferred.
- Experience providing feedback and guidance on university application essays is considered an asset.
- A positive, patient and encouraging attitude toward students is essential.
