Position Snapshot
We’re looking for an experienced, highly accountable Product Manager to own our product roadmap, backlog, and execution.
You’ll be the single source of truth for what we build, why, and in what order, translating strategy into clear priorities and requirements that Engineering can execute with confidence.
Working independently across Product Strategy, Growth & Engineering. You’ll bring clarity to ambiguity, make smart trade-offs, protect team focus, and confidently challenge priorities when needed.
This is a true product ownership role, not just project coordination. You must have hands-on experience owning a product roadmap and backlog for an engineering team and taking accountability for turning product strategy into shipped outcomes.
What You’ll Do
- Product Roadmap & Backlog: Own a single, prioritized product roadmap and backlog spanning MetaLingo, inPerson, and the shared platform, ensuring priorities are aligned across the full product ecosystem rather than managed as isolated products.
- Lead product discovery and validation before significant development begins, working with users and stakeholders to clarify the problem, test assumptions, evaluate potential solutions, and define the smallest viable scope before committing Engineering resources.
- Prioritize ruthlessly, balancing customer impact, business value, technical feasibility, team capacity, and confidently stop, defer, or challenge lower-value work.
- Agile/Scrum Delivery: Actively manage and contribute to Agile/Scrum ceremonies, including Sprint Planning, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives, ensuring priorities, requirements, and feedback are clearly aligned throughout the development cycle.
- Define measurable success criteria, the definition of done, and product KPIs for major initiatives, monitor performance and adoption after launch, and use results and user feedback to determine whether to iterate,
scale, maintain, or stop investment.
- Turn strategy into execution by developing clear product briefs, epics, user stories, acceptance criteria, and definitions of done.
- Create clarity before development begins, ensuring requirements, dependencies, assumptions, and success criteria are well understood by Engineering.
- Lead day-to-day product delivery, including backlog management, sprint priorities, bugs, dependencies, and delivery risks.
- Partner closely with Engineering to ensure work is buildable, well-defined, and progressing against agreed priorities, without stepping into technical ownership.
- Monitor product and engineering progress, identifying risks and blockers early and providing clear Green / Yellow / Red status updates to leadership.
- Drive cross-functional alignment across Product Strategy & Growth, Engineering, and Leadership, ensuring everyone understands what we’re building, why, and what trade-offs are being made.
- Establish and maintain a clear intake and prioritization process for new product requests, ensuring new ideas, bugs, stakeholder requests, and urgent needs are evaluated against agreed priorities rather than informally disrupting committed work.
- Manage competing stakeholder needs while protecting agreed priorities and team focus.
- Challenge constructively, bringing forward recommendations, surfacing risks, and pushing back when new requests conflict with strategic priorities or available capacity.
- Ensure accountability and visibility, clearly communicating priorities, progress, decisions, dependencies, and changes across the organization.
What You Bring (Core Skills)
- 5+ years of hands-on Product Management experience, with direct ownership of a product roadmap and backlog for an Engineering team.
- Proven ability to build and manage a product roadmap from scratch, prioritize competing initiatives, and make clear trade-offs.
- Technical fluency: able to follow engineering discussions, reason about feasibility, dependencies, and trade-offs, and use that to sequence and plan, without owning architecture.
- Strong experience translating business and product strategy into clear, actionable requirements.
- Experience creating product briefs, epics, user stories, acceptance criteria, and definitions of done.
- Experience using product data, user feedback, and qualitative and quantitative evidence to make prioritization decisions and evaluate product performance.
- Robust understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies, sprint planning, backlog management, and product delivery.
- Proficiency with Jira or similar product management/backlog tools.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to challenge priorities, push back constructively, and confidently say no when needed.
- Demonstrated ability to manage ambiguity, make decisions, and protect team focus in a fast-moving environment.
- Experience communicating product progress, risks, blockers,
and trade-offs to senior leadership.
- Strong judgment and ability to balance customer needs, business priorities, technical constraints, and organizational capacity.
- Ability to work independently and maintain objectivity across Product Strategy, Engineering, and Leadership.
- Experience working in a startup or fast-moving environment.
Bonus Points
- Experience in EdTech, education, or learning technology.
- Product Design: While not a core requirement, experience creating basic product designs including user flows, wireframes, and simple mockups is a strong asset. As we do not have a dedicated product designer, candidates who can bridge product management and lightweight design would be particularly valuable.
- Experience building products for children, families, schools, or educators.
- Basic product design skills, including user flows, wireframes, or mockups.
- English/French bilingualism.
- Experience with consumer-facing, real-time, or interactive products.
- Product certification such as CSPO or PSPO.
