FTE:Full Time Permanent PROGRAM:Recovery Services REPORTING TO:Chief Operating Officer The Blood Tribe Department of Health is seeking an experienced, collaborative and forward-thinking Director of Recovery Services to lead an integrated continuum of addiction and recovery services. The Director provides strategic leadership and oversight for Bringing the Spirit Home (BTSH) and the Blood Tribe Iitakamotsiipiphsopi Recovery Community (BTIRC). Together these programs support individuals from withdrawal management and stabilization through structured recovery, healing, reintegration and connection to family and community.
This is an exciting opportunity to help shape a coordinated recovery system that is recover-oriented, trauma informed, culturally responsive and grounded in strong relationships, accountability and continuous improvement.
THE ROLE: Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Director of Recovery Services provides strategic oversight for BTSH and BTIRC, ensuring both programs operate as a coordinated continuum of recovery care.
The Director is responsible for: Strengthening integration, continuity of care and service quality across programs. Supporting strong leadership, accountability and workforce development. Overseeing organizational performance, budgets, risk and compliance. Advancing culturally responsive trauma-informed and recovery-oriented services. Leading continuous improvement, innovation and future service development.
WHAT YOU BRING: The successful candidate brings a combination of education, leadership experience and demonstrated expertise in complex health, recovery or human service environments, including: A bachelors degree in Indigenous Health, Addictions, Health Administration, Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, Business Administration, or a related discipline is required.
A graduate degree is an asset. Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience within addiction and recovery services, mental health, healthcare, social services or related human service environment.
Minimum of 3-5 years management or senior leadership experience, with demonstrated responsibility for programs, people, budgets, and organizational performance. Minimum of 2 years of sobriety from drugs or alcohol. Demonstrated experience overseeing complex programs, teams, budgets, policy, quality improvement, risk management and organizational performance.
Experience leading program development, service integration, organizational change, and continuous quality improvement. Solid knowledge of recovery oriented, trauma informed, person centered care, and culturally responsive practice. Understanding of the distinct clinical requirements of Medical Detox and the roles and responsibilities of regulated health professionals.
Knowledge of residential recovery models, life skills development, family and community connection, reintegration, and long-term recovery supports. Valid class 5 driver’s license and reliable transportation. Successfully complete and pass a Vulnerable Persons Criminal Record Check prior to initiating employment and annually thereafter.
This is a full-time position based on-site in Moses Lake, AB that requires the complete focus of the incumbent and therefore employment in any form outside of the Blood Tribe Recovery Community will not be possible while in this position.
