RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. Position summary

Department / Research Program: Research Program: Cancer Research Program (CRP)

Under the direct supervision of the supervisor, the candidate will participate in the collection and processing of various clinical research samples for biobanks and various research projects (Quebec Pancreatic Cancer Study, PRECEDE study). The candidate will also participate in the management of the mouse colony and related animal experiments, as well as various tasks according to an established methodology to support research projects and experiments.

General Duties

- Collection and processing of human biosamples (blood, tissue, saliva) and maintaining associated records and data.
- Participation in mouse colony management and related animal experiments.
- Participation in the execution of various laboratory projects and experiments.

Standards of performance

- Compliance with safety protocols and established protocols and methodology.
- Punctual and reliable, with good time-management.
- Quality oriented, producing work of high standard with completeness and accuracy.
- Able to collaborate efficiently in a multidisciplinary team and to help colleagues and assist students.

Education / Experience

Education: Master's Degree

Field of Study: Molecular biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Histology, Laboratory Technologist

Other education considered an asset for this position: Applicants with a Bachelor’s degree or a DEC may be considered for a Junior Assistant position

Work Experience: Work experience in a clinical laboratory or clinical trials an asset, work experience with animals an asset. Genetics research experience

Required Skills

- Knowledge of French is required.
- An intermediate knowledge of oral and written English is required, as the position requires regular contact, as well as processing specific information, with researchers or international students who are exclusively proficient in English.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills,
- Ability to work independently or with teams with minimum supervision,
- Attention to detail and accuracy,
- Problem assessment and problem solving abilities,
- Demonstrate diplomacy, discretion and good judgment.

Additional information Status: Temporary, full time (35-hour workweek)

Pay Scale: Commensurate with education and experience

Work Shift: Monday to Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm

Work Site: Glen Site,
