Job Information: The Research & Media Strategist (National & Agency Support) supports PATTISON’s National Sales teams and agency partners by translating consumer, media, audience and market data into actionable insights and strategic recommendations that strengthen national OOH media planning, agency relationships and sales opportunities.

This role delivers custom research and media strategy by synthesizing data into visually impactful deliverables for national campaigns. Collaborating closely with Sales, the Strategist determines the best analytical approach to translate research findings into practical recommendations for agency planning teams.

This role acts as a strategic partner and analytical resource for National Sales and agency partners, leveraging media intelligence and data-driven storytelling to communicate the value of OOH. The Strategist translates complex data into compelling media narratives, developing national recommendations, RFP responses, pitches, and thought leadership while managing multiple high-priority deliverables in a rapid-paced environment.

What you’ll do…

NATIONAL AGENCY & SALES SUPPORT

- Partner with National Sales teams and agency partners to understand campaign objectives, target audiences, media strategies.
- Collect and analyze data from syndicated resources on consumer demographics, psychographics, and habits in order to identify opportunities for the sale of PATTISON’s products across Canada.
- Translate campaign and media objectives into strategic OOH recommendations, identifying the audiences, markets, environments and PATTISON media solutions that can best support the campaign.
- Support national and agency business opportunities through the development of audience strategies, market insights, competitive intelligence, media recommendations and data-driven sales narratives.
- Communicate clearly and understand the objectives of the requests.
- Formulate a plan to meet request requirements.
- Determine the appropriate data sources, analytical approach and strategic framework required to address the agency.
- Prepare reports which derive strong insights from data and deliver them in a concise, visually impactful way that is easy to understand.
- Translate complex data from primary and secondary sources into concise, visually compelling, and reader-friendly reports for executive stakeholders and marketing materials.
- Create client- and agency-ready presentations, proposals, and RFP responses that deliver explicit, strategic recommendations.
- Support Sales by demonstrating the unique strengths, role, and value of OOH within a broader, multi-channel media mix.




- Guide national campaign planning through precise audience definition, geographic targeting, and market-level recommendations.
- Participate actively in strategic meetings and discussions to align research findings with client needs.
- Enhance campaign strategies by constructively challenging initial briefs and proposing innovative, alternative perspectives.

MEDIA & AUDIENCE INTELLIGENCE

- Analyze demographic, behavioral, and media consumption data to deliver actionable insights for national advertisers and agencies.
- Build audience profiles demonstrating how Out-of-Home (OOH) effectively engages priority targets across the consumer journey.
- Leverage industry-standard media databases to track competitor activity, consumption habits, and audience behaviors.
- Track advertising and media trends to identify emerging OOH opportunities and supply strategic intelligence to Sales and partners.
- Analyze category investments and advertiser activity to uncover high-potential OOH opportunities.
- Create proactive insights and collateral that Sales teams can use to drive agency engagement.

NATIONAL MARKET & MEDIA STRATEGY

- Analyze Canadian markets to identify audience concentrations, market characteristics and opportunities for national and multi-market campaigns.
- Use geographic and location-based data to support market prioritization, audience targeting and strategic media recommendations.
- Identify opportunities to connect OOH environments with broader media strategies and consumer touchpoints.
- Support the development of national OOH strategies that balance scale, reach, audience relevance, geographic coverage and media context.

RESEARCH & CAMPAIGN MEASUREMENT

- Support internal quantitative research initiatives and custom research requests.
- Support campaign measurement initiatives, including audience analysis, recall research, campaign evaluations and other research projects designed to demonstrate OOH effectiveness.
- Interpret research findings and translate results into meaningful media and business insights for clients, agencies and Sales.
- Apply an understanding of research methodologies and data limitations
- Contribute to the development of OOH benchmarks, case studies and thought leadership that demonstrate the effectiveness and role of OOH within the broader media landscape.

Who you are…

- Proficient in English (written, verbal and comprehension).
- Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, translating complex concepts and results of research into clear and concise language.
- Minimum of a BA/BS degree, preferably in social sciences, market research, statistics, marketing, media, communications, business or equivalent.
- Must have a minimum of 3 year of professional services full-time work experience in marketing analytics, business intelligence, statistics or other analytical methodology conducting research, survey design and analysis , media strategy or related media/advertising experience.
- Strong understanding of the Canadian media landscape and the role of OOH within an integrated media strategy.




- Understanding of the agency planning and buying process and familiarity with how agencies evaluate audiences, media channels and campaign opportunities is an asset
- Solid understanding of data collection and analytical processes.
- A proficiency with quantitative research/custom research and syndicated research (interpreting respondent data and providing insights or recommendations and delivery high quality work).
- Demonstrated ability to synthesize multiple data sources and turn complex information into a clear media story and strategic recommendation.
- A high proficiency with Microsoft Office with a focus on PowerPoint and Excel.
- Experience with research, audience and market intelligence tools such as Vividata, MediaRadar, Environics Analytics, SPOTZI, Dynata, Decipher and/or other media planning and analytics platforms is an asset.
- Knowledge and experience with COMMB (Canadian Out-of-Home Marketing & Measurement Bureau) is an asset.
- Excellent written, oral and presentation skills with demonstrated experience presenting quality work with a high attention to detail.
- Strong presentation and storytelling skills, with the abilty to confidently communicate insights and recommendations to Sales, agencies and clients.
- Strong media acumen and commercial awareness
- Excellent planning and organizational skills with well-developed time management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple timelines, prioritize changing needs, and keep team members as well as clients updated on timing expectations.
- Proven ability to establish strong, trusted partnerships with Sales, agencies, and internal stakeholders.
- A logical self-starter who critically assesses research questions to find the best solutions using available resources.
- Solutions-oriented mindset that looks beyond the initial brief to uncover opportunities and provide strategic recommendations.
- Translates complex data into transparent, engaging narratives that demonstrate the value and opportunity of OOH.
- Prior experience in a professional services or media/advertising agency environment is considered an asset.
- Strong consultative communication skills, with the confidence and curiosity to engage in strategic conversations, ask thoughtful questions, understand Sales and agency challenges, and provide a clear point of view or recommendation.
- Demonstrated interest in media innovation and the evolving OOH landscape, with the curiosity to explore new approaches, products, technologies and solutions that can strengthen OOH’s role within the media mix.
