- Our positions range from 4 to 8 months, starting in winter 2027!
- You’ll be based out of Saint John, New Brunswick
- Funding support for housing may be available for eligible candidates
- Did you know? Since January 2024, J.D. Irving, Limited has committed to reimbursing the co-op fee up to $1,000 for students completing their work terms with the company
- NOTE: Applications are accepted from both co-op and non-co-op students for 4-month terms. Students requiring an 8-month term must be enrolled in a co-op program
WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT FROM YOUR WORK TERM From your first day, you’ll be working on meaningful projects alongside experienced professionals. You’ll also take part in student-focused events, tours, and learning experiences that expand your knowledge and connect you with other students across the company.
You’ll engage with senior leaders and professionals for coaching, mentorship, and career development. Our division includes major players in the North American construction industry, including Irving Equipment, Gulf Operators, CFM, Irving Wallboard, PumpsPlus, and Kent Homes.
This is more than just an internship. It is a chance to contribute to real-world projects, build valuable skills, and grow your professional network.
Responsibilities
- Continuous improvement: Be part of a culture that encourages fresh ideas, challenges the status quo, and finds better ways to do things every day.
- Project management: Learn how projects are planned and executed using real tools and processes. You’ll gain skills that are valuable in any industry.
- Production planning:
Support the team in keeping operations running smoothly by helping schedule and organizing production activities.
- ERP & Analytics - Get hands-on with our ERP systems and dashboards. Use data to uncover insights and support smarter decision-making.
- Health & Safety - Join inspections and safety initiatives, and experience how safety is built into everything we do within our Construction & Equipment Division.
- Mentorship & Job Shadowing - Connect with mentors and shadow professionals on job sites and in facilities to learn directly from the experts. We’re here to support your career growth.
Qualifications
- You’re currently enrolled and in good standing in a post-secondary Engineering program
- You’re a self-starter who is proactive, motivated, and ready to jump in
- You’re open to learning. We know you’re still a student, and we’re here to support your growth
- You’re interested in building project management and lean methodology skills
- You’re organized and detail-oriented, and juggling multiple tasks energizes you
- You bring strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills, along with a great attitude
