Salesperson & Driver Position - Winnipeg

First off, thank you for your interest in this position!

The Compactor operates in Ottawa, Gatineau, Calgary, Vancouver, and of course now... Winnipeg. We are launching in this great city and are looking for the next sharp salesperson and crush-master to join our small and effective team.

PLEASE NOTE that this is a sales job. You need to have relevant sales experience. Do not apply if you don't have at least 2-3 years of sales experience (please don't waste your time and mine!)

Looking forward to hearing from you. Thank you.

Alex

Owner/Operator The Compactor is a revolutionary waste management service that uses specialized trucks to compact/crush trash in roll-off dumpsters for construction and manufacturing clients (generally). Clients gain more use out of their dumpster and the number of hauls to the dump are reduced. This helps organizations cut costs and provides a greener approach to current waste management solutions.

I strongly recommend you look at our site at www.TheCompactor.ca to understand what the position entails. You've likely never seen this kind of service before.

Important facets of this position:

- Sales and Relationships - This is the first item on the list, because sales are a majority of what you'll be doing for the first few months. You have to enjoy the sales process, meeting people, building relationships, educating potential clients, and alike. You have to be ready for this challenge.
- Driver and Crusher - You'll be driving a 26ft, 10 500kg commercial truck with a heavy duty compactor mounted on the back.

You have to drive and operate safely, but also you have to be efficient. Injuries, damage, and inefficiency are not our friends. Crushing is very fun, help us get to a truck that is fully-booked on crushes all day!
- Mechanics - You should know enough about mechanical issues to be able to resolve small issues on-the-fly and notice/report bigger ones (for us to fix).

Who we are looking for a driver that:

- Operates with safety as a priority.
- Is eager, resourceful, self-motivated, and organized. We plan on talking to each and every business in Winnipeg about this (the ones who use roll-offs anyway), it’s no small task.
- Has a pleasant demeanor and gives clients the top-notch service we are known for.
- Is comfortable using technology and apps like Jobber, Pipedrive, and others.
- Takes good care of our equipment.

Your day-to-day:

- Doing a daily inspection of the Truck and Compactor, filling out the report, and communicating with us any defects (the trucks are new but that doesn’t mean there won’t be issues);
- Running scheduled routes and compactions. Photos and details have to be uploaded to our system for every job.
- Always looking for new business opportunities.

New clients are everywhere! Once you see new opportunities, you will knock on the door, discuss with the decision-maker (or employee) and try to get paid services and offer demos.
- Communicating with us throughout the day, whether it’s about completed bookings, general updates, issues with clients or equipment, fun chatter(!!), and so on. It’s a very dynamic business and market, we have to communicate a lot at all times of the day. We don't micromanage our drivers, but we do like to know what's going on and be part of the action.

Details:

- Full-time employment;
- Start Date within 1 month.
- Starting base salary TBD based on skills and experience.
- Commissions on all bookings completed with your truck.
- Bonuses available.
- Paid Benefits available once probationary period is over (typically 3 months);
- Most days are 8am-4pm or so. Weekend bookings do happen, a premium may be paid if you work weekends.

Minimum requirements:

- You’ve gone on our website and you understand the business and believe in the concept. You have to believe!
- Clean driving record.
- Ability to hold conversations in English.
- All others as listed in screening questions.

Job Type: Full time Pay: $28.00-$35.00 per hour

Benefits

- Dental care
- Extended health care
- Flexible schedule
- Life insurance
- On-site parking

Experience:
- Direct sales: 2 years (required)

Licence/Certification:
- Class 5 License from MB (required)
- Air Brake Endorsement from MB (required)

Work Location: On the road
