About Hardlink
Hardlink is a specialist technology and executive management consultancy serving the resources, energy, and heavy industry sectors. We are a firm of experienced practitioners - people who have held the roles our clients hold, worked in the environments our clients operate, and understand that the gap between strategy and delivery is where most engagements succeed or fail.
We are a small firm by design. That means every person here carries real weight, every engagement matters to the business, and the distance between a good idea and its execution is short. Our ambition is to be the most trusted technology advisory firm in the sectors we serve.
We believe that a healthy and sustainable firm is built through investment in people and rigor in delivery. That philosophy shapes how we hire, and how we work.
The Opportunity
As Hardlink continues to grow, we are looking for a Senior Accountant who brings strong technical accounting expertise, project accounting capability, and a proactive, hands-on approach. This new role sits at the intersection of corporate accounting and project financial management, with responsibility for strengthening the financial practices and insights that support the firm’s continued growth.
You will oversee Hardlink’s core accounting activities, including month-end close, cash flow forecasting, client invoicing, and financial reporting, while working with the bookkeeper and external accounting partners to ensure accurate and timely financial information. You will also help ensure tax and regulatory compliance across Hardlink’s Canadian and U.S. entities, including CRA and IRS requirements.
A significant part of the role is project accounting. You will establish and monitor project budgets, manage WIP and revenue recognition, analyze project profitability and utilization, and work with project managers to identify budget pressures and scope changes while providing actionable financial insights.
This role goes beyond producing accurate numbers. You will provide forecasting, reporting, and analysis to support business decisions while helping improve Hardlink’s accounting, procurement, project costing, systems, and financial processes as the firm continues to evolve.
What We’re Looking For
You are an experienced accounting professional with strong hands-on capability across core accounting operations and project accounting. You understand project-based billing, WIP, revenue recognition, job costing, budget-to-actual analysis and project profitability, and you are comfortable working directly with project managers and leadership to turn financial data into helpful business insight.
Strong
QuickBooks Online expertise, advanced Excel/Google Sheets capability, and experience with financial reporting tools are important for success in this role.
Just as important is how you work. You take ownership, exercise sound judgment, communicate clearly and bring a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Hardlink is a small and evolving firm, so you are comfortable being hands-on, working through ambiguity and adapting as priorities, processes and systems develop.
You look for practical ways to continuously improve how work gets done, collaborate well across the business, and can move between detailed accounting work and the bigger financial picture.
A degree in accounting, finance or a related field and a CPA designation or progress toward one are valued. Experience in professional services, consulting or another project-based environment is particularly relevant. Experience with PSA/ERP project accounting tools or exposure to mining, engineering or technology consulting are assets rather than requirements. We encourage candidates who bring the core capabilities for the role to apply.
Why Work at Hardlink
- Competitive salary range of $95,000 - $115,000.
- Comprehensive benefits package, including dental coverage, long-term disability, a health spending account, and parental leave top-up.
- Hybrid work environment where you will work four days in the office.
- Schedule flexibility to support family responsibilities, within the requirements of the role.
- A highly collaborative and intellectually engaged workplace where your contributions are visible, valued, and respected.
- Meaningful professional growth in a specialist consultancy serving the resources, energy and heavy industry sectors.
