What You’ll Do Reporting to the Commissioning Manager, the Senior Commissioning Technologist is responsible for commissioning, testing and maintaining primary and secondary power equipment in the field. This includes maintaining medium‑to‑high‑voltage substation power delivery equipment such as breakers, switchgears, circuit breakers, relays and transformers. The role also involves mentoring and educating junior technologists, reading and interpreting prints, implementing risk management strategies and promoting industry best practices.
They play a leading role in setting up and operating standard and specialized test equipment to diagnose and analyze the performance of power delivery equipment on‑site.
Key Responsibilities - Promote and maintain a strong safety culture alongside all members of the construction crew - Commission and test high voltage equipment such as circuit breakers, transformers, manual and motor‑operated switches, current transformers, voltage transformers, capacitor banks and circuit switchers - Commission protection and control relays (SEL, GE, Siemens, ABB) - Commission control circuits for protection, indication and monitoring systems - Perform acceptance and maintenance testing on electrical equipment ranging from 600 V to 500 kV - Install, commission and maintain protection and control equipment, including SCADA in medium‑to‑high‑voltage transmission substations - Work with protection schemes such as differential, distance, line protections, transformer protections and overcurrent protections - Interpret electrical drawings and schematics, analyze test results, and recommend corrective actions - Supervise, mentor and train junior technicians - Work with manufacturer’s test equipment: Omicron CMC356, CT analyzer, Cibano, CPC100, Votano, Testrano, Doble M4100, SFRA, Megger megohmmeter, 10 A Ductor, Broman 100 A Ductor, Megger TTR, Dilo, SMC gas analyzers, VLF and AC Hi Pots Additional Information This position is designated as safety‑sensitive.

Compensation - Schedule rotations include 7 days on / 7 days off or 7 days on / 14 days off, etc.
