The Opportunity

ECG Engineering is seeking an experienced Senior / Lead Control Systems Engineer to join our Toronto-based Control Systems team. This is a hands-on technical role working across greenfield and brownfield projects in mining, mineral processing, materials handling, energy and heavy industry.

The role is suited to an experienced controls engineer who wants to remain actively involved in PLC, SCADA and control system delivery while also providing technical guidance and design review to other engineers. Previous mining or mineral processing experience is desirable but not essential, particularly where candidates have strong experience in process industries, industrial automation or system integration.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, configure and deliver PLC and SCADA systems across industrial projects.
- Develop and review PLC code, SCADA applications, control system architectures, functional descriptions, control narratives, sequences and interlocks.
- Provide technical leadership, design review and guidance to other control systems engineers.
- Integrate instrumentation, variable speed drives, intelligent motor control, remote I/O and third-party vendor equipment.
- Troubleshoot PLC, SCADA, communications and field interface issues.
- Participate in FAT, SAT, I/O testing, commissioning and site delivery activities.
- Work directly with clients,



vendors and other engineering disciplines to develop and implement practical control system solutions.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of ECG's engineering standards, software libraries, templates, tools and delivery processes.

About You

- A relevant engineering degree, diploma or equivalent industry qualification.
- Strong PLC programming experience, particularly with Rockwell ControlLogix / CompactLogix.
- Significant hands-on experience delivering industrial control systems across the project lifecycle.
- Experience with SCADA and HMI platforms such as AVEVA Plant SCADA / Citect and FactoryTalk View.
- A positive understanding of industrial networks and communications including EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP/RTU and OPC.
- The ability to interpret P&IDs;, electrical drawings, process documentation and vendor information and translate these into practical control system solutions.
- The ability to independently develop high-quality control system software and engineering documentation.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with clients, vendors and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- The ability to mentor and support less experienced engineers.
- A practical, solutions-focused approach to engineering.
- Experience with system integrators, water and wastewater, food and beverage, chemical processing, manufacturing, energy, mining, mineral processing or other heavy industrial environments will be highly regarded.
- Canadian working rights and the ability to travel to project sites when required.
