Position Summary... The SR Specialist Item File is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and governance of master data records across retail systems. This role supports item data creation, maintenance, validation, and ongoing data quality initiatives while ensuring compliance with established master data processes and controls.
What you'll do
- Item creation, maintenance, and master data management activities.
- Ad hoc data setup, maintenance, validation, and data cleansing.
- Monitoring, investigating, and resolving data quality issues.
- Supporting system enhancements, testing, and implementation activities.
- Developing and maintaining process documentation, job aids, and training materials.
- Facilitating training sessions and providing guidance to business users.
- Conducting root-cause analysis and recommending preventive actions.
- Supporting data governance initiatives and process compliance reviews.
- Creating reports, dashboards, and metrics to monitor data quality and operational performance.
- Partnering with Merchandising, Replenishment, Supply Chain, eCommerce, Technology, and other stakeholders to support item lifecycle management and business objectives.
- Identifying opportunities for process automation, efficiency improvements, and enhanced data controls.
Major Responsibilities
Data Governance & Compliance Champion
- Established item data standards, governance requirements, processes, and controls across the eCommerce business.
- Supported and enhanced governance processes that ensure the integrity of item information throughout the product lifecycle.
- Partnered with business owners to improve compliance with item setup and maintenance standards.
- Identified recurring data-quality issues and recommended sustainable solutions, process improvements, or preventative controls.
- Supported governance activities related to item replenishment and other critical downstream business processes.
Process Improvement & Project Leadership
- Lead and support projects focused on improving data set up/maintenance, clean up and governance processes, tools, systems, and ways of working.
- Assessed current processes, identified opportunities for simplification and automation, and recommended solutions that improve accuracy, efficiency and scalability.
- Partnered with Technology and business teams on system enhancements, testing, implementation, and adoption of current item management capabilities.
- Evaluated the downstream impacts of process and system changes and communicated requirements, risks, and changes to appropriate stakeholders.
Cross-Functional Partnership
- Built strong working relationships with Merchandising, eCommerce, Replenishment, Supply Chain, Technology, Operations, and other cross-functional partners.
- Served as a trusted subject matter expert on item data, processes, tools, and governance.
- Provided guidance and recommendations to business partners on complex item-related issues and requirements.
- Communicated item changes, process updates, risks, and downstream impacts clearly and proactively.
- Facilitated resolution of cross-functional item data issues while balancing business priorities, data integrity, and customer needs.
Training & Capability Building
- Developed and maintained training materials, process documentation, standard operating procedures, and job aids related to item data and supporting systems.
- Delivered training to business owners and cross-functional partners on data set up, maintenance, governance requirements, and supporting tools.
- Maintained expertise in evolving data management processes, systems and technologies.
- Supported the adoption of new technology and ways of working through effective communication, and training.
Existing & New Validation Tools Enhancement & Creation
- Led the enhancement, maintenance, and development of validation tools to improve item data quality, process accuracy, and operational efficiency.
- Gathered business requirements, identified validation gaps, and translated them into functional tool enhancements and new validation solutions.
- Performed user acceptance testing (UAT), documented outcomes, and supported production deployment of tool enhancements.
- Developed and maintained job aids, process documentation, training materials, and user guides for validation tools.
- Monitored tool performance, analyzed recurring errors, and recommended continuous improvements to strengthen data governance and prevent data quality issues.
- Supported end users by providing training, troubleshooting assistance, and guidance on validation tool functionality and best practices.
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of data quality, governance, process controls, and data lifecycle management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and develop sustainable solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver accurate work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to translate technical or data-related information into clear business language.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Experience developing documentation, job aids, and training materials and facilitating training for business users.
- Initiative and innovation leveraging AI.
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Advanced SQL development and query optimization skills.
- 1+ years of experience in software development, tool development, data analysis, or automation.
- Experience designing and implementing validation rules, business logic, and automated controls.

Compensation
The pay range for this position is $64,700.00 - $88,990.00. Pay will be determined based on relevant experience. L’échelle salariale pour ce poste est de 64,700.00 à 88,990.00. La rémunération sera déterminée en fonction de l’expérience pertinente.
