Job brief

We are seeking a talented and versatile Shopify Web Designer & Developer to join our team. This unique role combines design execution and web development expertise to create an engaging and user-friendly website. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining our Shopify stores and websites.

You will ensure optimal website performance, user experience, and conversion optimization. This role requires expertise in Shopify’s Liquid programming language, theme customization, and app integrations.

Design

- Work together with the team to create website layouts and mock-ups, design graphics and user interfaces, collaborate with external developers, and stay updated on design trends.
- Experience with multimedia production tools for audio, video, and graphics editing (e.g., Adobe Suite – Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign).

Web Development & Troubleshooting

- Develop, customize, and maintain our Shopify website, SEO, themes, and applications.
- Optimize Shopify stores for performance, speed, and user experience.
- Implement custom functionalities using Shopify Liquid, HTML, CSS,



and JavaScript.
- Integrate third-party apps and APIs to enhance store functionality.
- Ensure responsive and mobile-friendly design across all devices.
- Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues efficiently.
- Stay updated with the latest Shopify trends, updates, and best practices.
- Monitor site performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
- QA site content and product information to ensure accuracy and alignment with brand standards.
- Lead “go-live” readiness for product and campaign moments.
- Communicate with customers as needed for website troubleshooting.

Skills

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving, with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues effectively.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Ability to function as a team as well as individually.
- A Meta Full-Stack Engineer Certificate or a Google Web Developer certificate is an added bonus.
- An understanding or interest in birds, nature, or conservation is an added bonus.

Requirements

- Must be fluent with Shopify (and Shopify Liquid).
- Must be fluent in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Must be familiar and comfortable with Figma and Canva.
- Must be fluent with Adobe Suite – Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.




- Proven experience with UI/UX design and development.
- Preferred EngageBay or other CRM experience.
- Ability to execute tasks without reliance/use of AI.
- Education certificate or diploma in web development and/or 2 years of previous relevant experience.

Additional

- The permanent full-time position is at our company headquarters in Mississauga, ON (no remote option).
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9 A.M. to 5 P.M.
- Casual dress code.

- Salary: $50,000 to start.
