The Centre of Expertise within the Payroll Services Centre is seeking a Specialist, Payroll Advisory Services to deliver specialized professional services engagements for our clients and support them in analyzing, optimizing, and resolving complex payroll-related situations. The successful candidate will act as a payroll subject matter expert and advisor. They will manage engagements defined according to client needs, develop recommendations tailored to each client’s context, and contribute to the implementation of sustainable, compliant, and effective solutions. They will also use approved artificial intelligence tools, where appropriate, to accelerate research, analysis, documentation, and the preparation of deliverables, while systematically validating information and exercising professional judgment.

Your future duties and responsibilities

- Manage professional payroll services engagements from understanding client needs through to the delivery of agreed-upon recommendations or work.
- Analyze complex payroll situations, identify root causes, risks, and impacts, and recommend solutions tailored to the client’s context.
- Advise clients on the application of payroll rules and operational best practices,



taking applicable legislative and regulatory requirements into account.
- Conduct payroll process diagnostics, audits, or analyses and develop recommendations for improvement.
- Support clients through changes, corrections, harmonization initiatives, or optimization efforts affecting their payroll practices and configurations.
- Act as a resource and payroll subject matter expert for clients and internal teams on matters requiring advanced payroll expertise.
- Document analyses, recommendations, decisions, and deliverables associated with completed engagements.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistent management of client needs and effective knowledge transfer.
- Contribute to the development of the Centre of Expertise’s professional services offering, working methods, tools, and best practices, including identifying opportunities to leverage automation and artificial intelligence to improve efficiency and increase the value delivered through client engagements.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role

- Excellent knowledge of Canadian payroll and federal and provincial tax regulations.
- Knowledge of CCQ payroll is a significant asset.
- Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) designation from the National Payroll Institute, or equivalent payroll experience, is a significant asset.
- Demonstrates a high degree of autonomy, professional judgment, and business acumen.
- Strong analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable working in an advisory capacity and interacting directly with clients.
- Able to explain complex topics clearly and develop structured recommendations, including recommendations informed by analyses conducted with the support of digital or artificial intelligence tools.
- Demonstrates a strong commitment to continuous learning and maintaining in-depth payroll expertise, as well as an interest in the evolution of digital tools and artificial intelligence applied to advisory services.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage priorities and multiple engagements simultaneously.




- Recognized for collaboration, client focus, and the ability to build trusted relationships.

CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $60,000–$115,000. This role is an existing vacancy.
