We’re daring to create a world where all youth and children belong. This is an exciting prospect for an innovative, creative and experienced Speech Language Pathologist to join the Extensive Needs Service (ENS) at Holland Bloorview. This is a program for individuals up to the age of 18, whose needs cannot be met in a single service stream and who require an integrated approach across Mental, Behavioural and Developmental Health.

While this is primarily a clinical role,



there will be opportunity to work with other members of an interprofessional team to develop the Speech Language Pathologist role within Extensive Needs based on best practice and evidence. As an integral member of the interprofessional team, the Speech Language Pathologist will provide trauma‑informed and compassionate assessment, and intensive intervention, and consultation to children, youth and families with extensive needs such as co‑occurring medical, physical and developmental complexities and/or social vulnerabilities. The successful candidate will also provide consultation and training to inter‑disciplinary team members.

Services will primarily be provided at the Holland Bloorview main site, and occasional consultation may also occur at school. Successful candidates should have a strong understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder, Augmentative and Alternative Communication and behaviour management approaches. Uses appropriate standardized tests and outcome measures in clinical practice Participates in regular quality improvement activities to further refine clinical practice, equitable and efficient service for clients and families Shares new knowledge and best practices with colleagues, students and other professionals within the organization, professional body and community Participate in quality improvement activities to ensure the maintenance of a safe and healthy work environment Utilize the teaching/learning process to provide education, both formal and informal, to clients/families, colleagues, students, and other professionals within the organization and the community Participates in quality improvement initiatives,



supports the maintenance of a safe and healthy work environment and advances a culture of client/patient safety through work and daily practices Supports the supervision of student clinicians as needed Provide consultation to community providers as appropriate Masters degree in Speech Language Pathology Current registration with the College of Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO) Experience providing assessment, consultation and treatment for clients with complex needs, including neurodevelopmental conditions such as Autism Spectrum Disorder and/or acquired brain injuries Familiarity with Applied Behaviour Analysis an asset Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital creates a world of possibility by supporting children and youth with disabilities, medical complexity, illness and injury.
