Role Description The Structural Steel Estimator is a full-time, on-site role based in Mississauga, ON. This position is responsible for reviewing structural, architectural drawings, specifications, and bid documents to prepare accurate material take-offs and assist with project coordination. Day-to-day tasks include performing quantity take-offs, gathering pricing for materials and subcontracted services, and preparing detailed proposals and bid summaries.

The estimator works closely with the President and subcontractors to clarify requirements, assess project complexities, and support overall project planning.

Qualifications

- Solid structural steel estimating skills,



including reading and interpreting drawings, performing quantity take-offs, and preparing detailed cost breakdowns.
- Proficiency with MS Excel, CAD, or 3D modeling tools such as Tekla.
- Solid understanding of steel fabrication, erection methods, and construction processes, including materials and labor.
- Basic knowledge of the Ontario Building Code.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills for coordinating with internal teams, suppliers, and clients, and for preparing professional proposals.
- Strong organizational and time‑management abilities, including attention to detail, record‑keeping, and the ability to prioritize multiple bids and projects.
- Previous experience as a structural steel estimator or in a related role in steel fabrication or construction is an asset.
- Diploma or degree in engineering, construction management, architecture, or a related field is an asset.
- Compensation will be based on industry standards and experience.
