System Simulation Engineer – Propulsion Virtual Thermal Management (VTM)
Location: Windsor, Ontario, Canada
Work Arrangement: Hybrid initially; expected to transition to 5 days/week in-office
Position Overview
We are seeking a System Simulation Engineer to join the Propulsion Virtual Thermal Management (VTM) team. The role focuses on thermal management systems, including A/C, engine, battery, and cabin cooling, primarily using 1D simulation tools.
The candidate will independently perform 1D and coupled 1D–3D simulations, from data acquisition and model development through analysis, validation, and reporting. The role involves close collaboration with system engineers to provide simulation-driven insights, technical solutions, and design recommendations.

Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience with 1D simulation tools, such as Amesim, GT-SUITE, Flowmaster, KULI, AVL CRUISE, or MATLAB/Simulink.
- 2+ years of applied CFD experience using tools such as ANSA, STAR-CCM+, or TAITherm.
- Master’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, preferably with a thermo-fluid focus.
- Strong knowledge of Fluid Mechanics, Thermodynamics, and Heat Transfer.
- Good understanding of automotive systems and component functionality.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and effectively in a cross-functional engineering environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in vehicle/powertrain thermal management, including cooling systems, climate control, or thermal protection.
- Experience with automotive HVAC and engine system design/development.
- Experience with MiL/HiL simulation integration and validation.
- Knowledge of controls modeling and advanced control algorithms, including classical and AI-based approaches.
- Experience with 1D–3D co-simulation, such as GT-SUITE–TAITherm or similar.
- Familiarity with CAD, optimization, and Design of Experiments (DoE).
- Experience in methodology development and technical problem solving.
- Working knowledge of system bench testing, dynamometer testing, and vehicle test cells.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and solid technical presentation skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute 1D and coupled 1D–3D thermal simulations.
- Perform simulation analysis, validation, and technical reporting.
- Collaborate with system engineers to identify issues and recommend design/system improvements.
- Support model development, methodology improvement, and simulation validation using test data.
- Contribute to controls, co-simulation, optimization, and DoE activities.
- Present technical findings and recommendations to engineering teams and senior stakeholders.
Pay: $35.00-$35.85 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
