URGENT HIRING – REGISTERED PRACTICAL NURSE (RPN)

Overview

Merivale Medical Imaging is urgently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) to join our MRI and CT team. The successful candidate will help ensure patients receive safe, efficient and compassionate care before, during and after their diagnostic imaging procedures.

Key Responsibilities

- Bring patients from the waiting area and assist them with changing when required, while maintaining their privacy, dignity and safety
- Confirm patient identity and the requested imaging procedure
- Screen patients for MRI and CT examinations by reviewing medical history, allergies, contraindications and contrast-related risks
- Clearly explain imaging procedures and contrast injections to patients
- Insert and secure IV cannulas for contrast-enhanced and cardiac imaging examinations
- Connect IV tubing and power-injector lines and confirm IV patency before scanning
- Administer oral, sublingual and intravenous medications under approved medical directives and within the RPN’s authorized scope of practice
- Administer medications such as nitroglycerin and beta-blockers for CT Coronary Angiography according to established protocols
- Monitor patients before, during and after medication or contrast administration
- Assist with the secure and accurate positioning of patients for MRI, CT and cardiac imaging procedures
- Monitor patients during and after examinations and respond to any changes in their condition
- Remove IV cannulas following procedures when appropriate
- Escort patients safely to the change room or waiting area after their examination
- Scan and upload all required documentation accurately into the RIS
- Maintain complete and accurate clinical records




- Respond promptly to adverse reactions and medical emergencies
- Initiate appropriate interventions and escalate to the radiologist, physician or emergency services when required
- Inspect and maintain the emergency crash cart, medications, oxygen tanks, saturation monitors, blood-pressure equipment and other emergency supplies
- Monitor medication and supply expiry dates and notify management when additional supplies are required
- Ensure lockers, IV areas and change rooms remain clean, organized and ready for patients
- Follow all privacy, confidentiality, infection-control and patient-safety requirements

Requirements
- Current registration in good standing as an RPN with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Current CPR/BLS certification
- IV insertion certification and demonstrated IV insertion skills
- Experience administering medications and monitoring patients
- Strong knowledge of adverse contrast reactions and emergency-response procedures
- Excellent clinical assessment, communication and documentation skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced diagnostic imaging environment
- Previous experience in MRI, CT, cardiac imaging, acute care or an outpatient clinic is preferred
- Experience working with RIS or electronic clinical documentation systems is an asset
- ACLS certification is considered an asset
