About the Role
As Vice President, Marketing & Communications, you will shape how Equiton is known, how it grows, and how it engages investors, advisors, institutional partners, residents, and employees. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer – Corporate, you will lead the firm's integrated marketing and communications strategy across its investment and real estate businesses - bringing together brand, communications, investor and channel marketing, growth and digital, content and creative, events, property marketing, and marketing operations. You will lead a multidisciplinary team of professionals and work closely with senior leaders across the organization to turn business priorities into clear, compelling, and measurable marketing programs.
This is an in-office position based in Burlington, ON.
Key Responsibilities
Set the marketing vision: Develop and lead Equiton’s enterprise marketing and communications strategy across Canada and the United States, aligning priorities, investment, and execution across Retail, Wholesale, Institutional, Equiton Living, Developments, and future growth initiatives. Lead the marketing strategy supporting Equiton’s U.S. market entry, brand development, investor engagement, and continued expansion.
- Partner with the business: Advise the senior leadership team on brand, reputation, market positioning, investor engagement, and growth. Translate business priorities and market insights into focused, integrated marketing plans.
- Build and protect the brand: Oversee corporate and executive communications, media relations, thought leadership, internal communications, and crisis response, ensuring Equiton's story is clear, credible, and consistent for investors, employees, partners, and the broader market.
- Strengthen investor and channel marketing: Lead marketing that supports capital raising, investor retention, and sales enablement across individual investor, advisor, and institutional channels, including fund and development launches, investor communications and reporting, education, campaigns, webinars, and events.
- Drive growth and engagement: Own the acquisition, conversion, and retention strategy across paid media, organic and AI search, email, CRM and lifecycle, social media, and emerging channels. Ensure programs are connected to qualified leads, booked meetings, repeat investment, and revenue growth.
- Lead social media strategy: Set the enterprise social media strategy across corporate, investment, residential, and development. Establish platform, audience, publishing,
and governance standards while overseeing audience growth, community engagement, social listening, and timely, compliant execution.
- Shape the digital experience: Guide the evolution of Equiton's websites, portals, marketing technology, automation, and lead-management ecosystem. Create connected, high-quality experiences while maintaining strong standards for data integrity, security, privacy, accessibility, and compliance.
- Lead property and leasing marketing: Oversee marketing for Equiton Living, current acquisitions, developments, and lease-up initiatives, partnering with Asset Management and Property Operations to increase awareness, leasing performance, resident engagement, and local reputation.
- Raise the standard for content and creative: Set the direction for content, social media, design, video, advertising, and event experiences. Ensure work is distinctive, audience-focused, on brand, and delivered efficiently across every business line.
- Own performance and investment decisions: Establish meaningful KPIs, reporting, and attribution, and use the data to improve results and guide budget allocation. Manage the department's operating and media budgets, agencies, vendors, and key partnerships with a clear focus on business impact and return on investment.
- Build an exceptional team: Lead, coach, and develop a multidisciplinary team of across corporate and channel marketing, growth and digital, communications and content, creative services, events, and marketing operations. Create clear priorities, strong collaboration, and a culture of accountability, innovation, and high performance.
What You Bring:
- 15+ years of progressive marketing and communications experience, including significant executive leadership of a large, multidisciplinary function.
- A strong record of building enterprise strategies that bring together brand, communications, digital growth, content, and customer or investor engagement to deliver measurable business results.
- Experience in financial services, investments, asset management, private markets, or real estate, with an understanding of capital raising, investor communications,
and regulated marketing environments. Experience supporting expansion into the United States or leading marketing across Canadian and U.S. markets is strongly preferred.
- Fluency in modern marketing, including paid and organic acquisition, CRM and lifecycle, social media, content, marketing technology, analytics, attribution, and AI-enabled opportunities.
- Exceptional executive presence and communication skills, with the judgment to advise senior leaders, influence across functions, and navigate sensitive reputation or crisis matters.
- Strong commercial and financial acumen, including experience managing significant budgets, agencies, vendors, and performance targets.
- A proven ability to attract, develop, and inspire high-performing teams while balancing long-term strategy with decisive execution.
- A degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field is preferred; an advanced degree or professional accreditation is an asset.
