Compensation Coordinator
Employees can be absent from work for a variety of reasons: casual absence, work-related illness and/or injury, or health issues requiring the employee to be away from the work place for an extended period. Our absence management program helps employers strategically manage those absences- focusing on reducing overall costs, realizing administrative efficiency, and enhancing support for employees. All with the goal of returning employees to health and productivity.
Our Absence Management Solutions team helps TELUS employees return to health and productivity after work-related injury, illness, or personal challenges.
Your role supports this mission by ensuring every claim is processed accurately and compassionately, removing friction so our case managers can focus on the human side of recovery.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the operational backbone of the absence management team, managing the end-to-end coordination of workers' compensation claims.
- Partner with Claims Management Coordinators and Case Managers to coordinate the flow of information, managing touchpoints with provincial workers' compensation boards and clients to ensure seamless claim processing.
- Operating the internal system system to attach incoming documents to claims;
- Processing invoices within our internal system Case Management Systems;
- Communicating with the provincial boards to obtain information on claim files;
- Communicating with clients for telephonic claim intake;
- Opening, sorting, scanning,
and storing the mail we receive;
- Monitor key performance metrics (e.g., claim processing turnaround time) to ensure we meet service level agreements with clients and provincial boards.
- Your attention to detail and communication keep claims on track, supporting faster claim resolution and better outcomes for injured/ill employees.
Succeeding as a Workers' Compensation Coordinator will require the following core qualifications and skills (at minimum):
- Must-have: Paralegal license with Law Society of Ontario in good standing
- Strong to-have (not deal-breaker): Post-secondary education in health management, absence/disability management, or related field.
- Nice-to-have: Academic coursework in health & safety, workers' comp, medical terminology, disability management, insurance, or RTW/Rehabilitation
- Strong interpersonal skills — you communicate clearly with provincial boards, manage client intake calls professionally, and coordinate seamlessly with case managers and team members.
- Work experience in a front-line customer support role or claims processing environment, with demonstrated commitment to strong client service.
Salary Range: 48 300K - 65 000K Actual total compensation will be determined based on factors such as knowledge, skills, performance and experience.
