Type of position: Regular Your future role on our team Our electrical engineering team is recognized for its expertise in energy and complex electrical infrastructure and plays a key role in developing, refurbishing and optimizing hydroelectric power plants across Canada. Driven by the energy transition and the need to modernize existing assets, our projects cover the entire life cycle of these facilities, from preliminary studies to commissioning. To support the growth of our hydropower work, we’ll looking for an electrical engineer specialized in electrical apparatus. You’ll be supported by experienced multidisciplinary teams and take part in major projects that draw on your technical skills and your understanding of high‑power environments. Design electrical power systems for hydroelectric power plants, including medium- and low-voltage switchgear Participate in preliminary and feasibility studies as well as detailed engineering Develop layout and installation engineering for electrical apparatus, including:Medium-voltage cabinets Medium- and low-voltage bus ducts Auxiliary service transformers Low-voltage electrical power centres Prepare and review engineering deliverables, such as general arrangement drawings, elevations, construction details, single‑line diagrams, material lists and cable schedules Perform or verify the electrical calculations required to size and select electrical apparatus and power cables Help select equipment,
review vendor technical data and estimate quantities Draft technical specifications for installation work Coordinate your work with the other disciplines involved, including structural, civil, heavy and auxiliary mechanical, control and protection, building and architecture Conduct site surveys and visits, help with technical support activities on site and during commissioning phases and participate in factory and site acceptance tests, when required Supervise the work of CEPs and technologists on the team Do your qualities and values match our corporate culture? Results-driven Willingness to work together while having fun Rigour and ethical Interest in solving the most complex challenges Summary Of Certifications And Job Requirements University degree in electrical engineering Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec Ten years of proven experience in electrical engineering, ideally in hydroelectric power plant projects or power installations Knowledge of utility standards and practices Solid command of design methods for electrical power and distribution systems Experience with design software (e.G., AutoCAD and similar tools) Advanced French skills to facilitate collaboration with other BBA offices and/or clients in Québec Advanced English skills to facilitate collaboration with other BBA offices and/or clients in English‑speaking Canadian provinces and internationally; you may need to use English occasionally or daily, depending on current projects Knowledge of applicable codes and standards, including the Québec Electrical Code An Overview Of BBA’s Total Rewards Annual base salary Annual premium program for all regular employees Onsite mobility premium Time
