THE ROLE Our team is working with a Canadian food manufacturing company seeking a

Quality Technician

for a permanent position based at its Vancouver location. This role will support the facility's quality and food safety programs through

product sampling, laboratory testing, environmental monitoring, quality investigations, and compliance activities .

The Quality Technician will perform chemical, physical, and microbiological analysis of in-process and finished products to ensure they meet established

quality, food safety, customer, and regulatory requirements . This position will also play an significant role in maintaining the facility's

HACCP and GMP programs , investigating non-conformances and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

The ideal candidate is

detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and self-motivated , with the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with Production, Maintenance, Shipping, Warehouse, and other departments.

Schedule:

Typically Monday to Friday, with shifts between

6:00 AM and 4:30 PM . Shift rotations are required weekly between 6 AM, 7 AM, and 8 AM starts for an 8-hour workday.

Some weekend availability may be required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Collect samples and perform required





chemical, physical, and microbiological testing

on in-process and finished products.

Generate accurate

Certificates of Analysis (COAs)

to confirm products meet quality and customer specifications.

Perform environmental sampling and testing to support compliance with applicable regulations.

Calibrate, verify, and

troubleshoot laboratory equipment and instruments .

Identify and place

non-conforming products on hold

and support appropriate product disposition.

Investigate quality and process non-conformances, document findings, and assist with

root cause analysis and corrective actions .

Conduct routine

GMP and facility inspections , following up on identified deficiencies.

Participate in the

HACCP team

and support the maintenance, verification, and continuous improvement of food safety programs.

Work collaboratively with Production, Maintenance, Shipping, Warehouse, and other departments to resolve quality concerns and improve processes.

Respond to customer technical and quality-related inquiries.

Maintain a clean and organized laboratory while following

GMP, food safety and occupational health and safety requirements .

Analyze quality data and contribute to reporting and continuous improvement initiatives.





Support additional QA/QC activities and projects as required.

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s Degree

in

Food Science, Food Technology , Engineering, or a related scientific field such as

Chemical or Environmental Engineering, Microbiology, Biology or Biotechnology .

Minimum

5 years of experience

in a food processing, quality assurance or related industrial laboratory environment.

Strong knowledge of

HACCP and GFSI-recognized food safety schemes .

Experience with

quality testing, laboratory analysis, non-conformance investigations, and food safety programs .

Proficient with

Microsoft Office , with intermediate to advanced skills.

Experience with

Maximo, Navision, ERP systems and/or SharePoint

is an asset.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.

Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.

Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.

Strong commitment to

food safety, quality and workplace health and safety .

Must be flexible to work the required shift schedule, including occasional weekends.

COMPENSATION:

$70,000 to $85,000 depending on experience.
