If you require any accommodation during the interview process, please let us know.About the role:Working under the direction of the Housing and Reintegration Coordinator, you will support individuals living in rooming houses who are experiencing housing instability or are at risk of homelessness. Using a coordinated case management process and a Housing First approach, you will help clients access services, address barriers and maintain stable housing.You will join an established Housing and Reintegration team that values collaboration, shared problem-solving and mutual support. While another Rooming House Case Manager provides specialized support to seniors, this position will work with rooming house residents across a broad range of ages and needs. Referrals may come from community partners, shelters, hospitals and other service providers throughout Ottawa.As the successful candidate, you have:Postsecondary education in social work, social services or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experienceA minimum of two years of experience supporting individuals with complex needs,



including people experiencing homelessness, mental health challenges and/or substance use concernsKnowledge of Housing First, harm reduction, trauma-responsive and client-centred approachesKnowledge of the Residential Tenancies Act, 2006 and the rights and responsibilities of tenants and landlordsFamiliarity with HIFIS, SPDAT or other housing assessment and case management toolsAn understanding of Ottawa's housing and homelessness service system, including housing placement resources and processes for individuals who face significant barriers to obtaining and maintaining housingDemonstrated ability to build respectful, qualified relationships with clients, landlords, community agencies and other service providersStrong communication, negotiation and advocacy skillsExcellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work both independently and collaborativelySound judgment and the ability to respond calmly and effectively to challenging or urgent situationsStrong organizational, documentation and time-management skillsThe ability to prepare clear case notes, reports and professional correspondenceProficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook and Excel, as well as experience working with electronic databasesA valid Ontario Class G driver's licence and access to an insured personal vehicle for regular travel throughout the City of OttawaThe ability to work flexible hours when program or client needs require itThe ability to provide a satisfactory Police Record Check for the Vulnerable SectorBilingualism in English and French is considered an assetYou Will Be Prepared To:Meet clients where they are, including in their homes and at community locations that are accessible and comfortable for themComplete intake, triage and assessments to identify housing history, barriers to housing stability, level of need and immediate prioritiesWork in a variety of community and residential environments where pests, including bed bugs, may be present, while following all organizational health and safety procedures and using the appropriate personal protective equipment providedWork collaboratively with clients to develop individualized, client-led plans that reflect their housing and personal goalsSupport clients with immediate and ongoing needs related to identification, income, food, clothing, shelter, health care and other essential servicesAssist clients in locating and securing appropriate housing through active housing searches,
