BC Hydro is located at Revelstoke Generating Station. The company is currently looking for applications for the role of Tour Guide 1 - Revelstoke Dam Visitor Centre. We are seeking a self-disciplined individual with exceptional interpersonal skills. The chosen applicant will be required to join and begin their duties as soon as possible. This role is offered as a temporary, casual position on an on-call basis.

Location : Revelstoke Generating Station
- The candidate will greet visitors to the Visitor Centre and act as a representative of BC Hydro.
- The candidate will provide information about self-guided and guided tours and answer general visitor inquiries.
- The candidate will offer directions and share information about local tourism opportunities where possible.
- The candidate will conduct guided tours using established materials, adapting content to suit different audiences.
- The candidate will explain how electricity is generated and provide information about the history, construction, and operation of the generating station and dam.
- The candidate will share information about BC Hydro's programs, services, environmental initiatives, and local projects.
- The candidate will respond to general and non-routine inquiries in person, over the phone, or via email.
- The candidate will use a Point of Sale (POS) system to process admissions and retail purchases.
- The candidate will handle cash transactions, balance daily revenues, and complete end-of-day reporting.
- The candidate will troubleshoot minor POS system issues and elevate concerns when necessary.
- The candidate will perform clerical tasks such as filing, report preparation, answering phones, and checking safety equipment and supplies.
- The candidate may perform additional related duties as required.
Job Requirements
- The candidate must have partial completion of high school.
- The candidate should have some experience in customer service, public speaking, presentations, or leading groups.
- The candidate must be willing to complete an in-house training program upon hire.
- The candidate should possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- The candidate should demonstrate enthusiasm for customer service, tourism, and education.The candidate should have an interest in electricity, environmental topics, and local history.
- Familiarity with the local community and visitor centre operations will be considered an asset.
- The candidate should have basic knowledge of generating station operations or the ability to quickly learn.

Work Conditions
- The role requires standing for extended periods and working in various areas of the generating station, including potentially less comfortable environments.
- The candidate must be available to work weekdays, weekends, and holidays during the operating season.
- The candidate will receive training and development opportunities.
- The candidate will receive an hourly wage plus an additional percentage in lieu of advantages.
- The candidate may be eligible for a monthly stipend upon successful completion of the contract period.
