Job Type: Full-Time, Fixed-Term ContractSchool Year: 2026–2027Position OverviewGobind Sarvar School is seeking a passionate and innovative STEM Specialist for the 2026–2027 school year. The successful candidate will design engaging, hands‑on learning experiences that encourage students to think critically, solve real‑world problems, and develop creativity, collaboration, and communication skills.STEM at GSS focuses on inquiry‑based, interdisciplinary learning where students engage in the engineering design process—identifying problems, researching ideas, designing and building solutions, testing, refining, and reflecting. Technology, coding, and robotics may be used as tools to support learning, but the primary focus is on creativity, problem‑solving, and innovation.Key ResponsibilitiesPlan and deliver engaging STEM lessons aligned with the Alberta CurriculumFacilitate inquiry‑based, project‑based learning using the design processDevelop students’ critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and problem‑solving skillsIntegrate science, math, and other subject areas through hands‑on projectsUse technology and digital tools as supports for learning when appropriateCreate a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environmentAssess student progress and provide meaningful feedbackCollaborate with staff on interdisciplinary initiatives and projectsSupport school activities, events,
and enrichment opportunitiesPre-Employment RequirementsCandidates must possess or be eligible for an Alberta Teaching Certificate.The successful candidate will be required to submit a current Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check within 30 days of employment.Applicants must provide a professional reference letter from their most recent supervisor relevant to the position, written on company letterhead, signed, and dated within the last 12 months, or provide an updated list of references.Recent or new graduates may submit their final practicum report in place of a reference letter.QualificationsValid Alberta Teaching Certificate (required) or eligibility to obtain certification.Bachelor of Education, Computer Science, Engineering, Technology Education, Mathematics, Science, or a related field recognized by Alberta Education.Minimum one year of recent classroom teaching experience in Canada preferred.Strong understanding of the Alberta Program of Studies.Experience with robotics platforms, makerspaces, or educational technology tools is an asset.Educational technology experience is an asset.Excellent communication, organizational, and classroom management skills.Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.Commitment to ongoing qualified growth and innovation in education.Teachers are expected to cover their heads with a bandana while on school property, during field trips, and on career development days.Teachers are required to bring vegetarian snacks and lunches (no meat, eggs, or fish) while on school premises and during school hours.BenefitsExtended Health CarePaid Time OffRRSP MatchProfessional Development Opportunities#J-18808-Ljbffr
