Take on the impactful role of Culturally Informed Care Coordinator at Seabird Island, focusing on community health, safety, and justice. You will play a key role in advocating for clients throughout their navigation of the justice and social service systems.
This position, directed by the Acting Department Manager of Community and Family Wellness, aims to provide and coordinate advocacy, support, and culturally centered care plans for clients affected by the justice system. As a pivotal support figure, you will work to build the bridges necessary for reintegration and healing, all while utilizing Indigenous teachings in service delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
• Advocate for clients during social service and legal interactions • Develop care plans through active listening and client engagement • Regularly monitor and assess client needs and outcomes • Lead mediation sessions for effective conflict resolution • Integrate Indigenous traditions into community-based programming
Requirements: • Degree in social sciences or community development • Minimum of two years in Indigenous community services • Robust mediation and interpersonal skills • Comprehensive understanding of justice system navigation • Valid driver's license for outreach support
