Bookkeeper / Accounting Technician

Location: Ontario, Canada

We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Bookkeeper / Accounting Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate has solid knowledge of Canadian bookkeeping, payroll, HST, and tax preparation and is comfortable working with Portuguese-speaking clients.

Responsibilities
Full-cycle bookkeeping for small and medium-sized businesses.
Bank, credit card, and account reconciliations.
Accounts payable and accounts receivable.
Preparation of financial statements and year-end working papers.
QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop bookkeeping and reconciliations.
Preparation and/or assistance with T1 Personal and T2 Corporate tax returns.
Preparation and filing of HST/GST returns.
Payroll processing, remittances, T4s, T4As, and ROEs.
WSIB reporting and remittances.
Preparation of various CRA and government tax forms.
Communication with clients regarding accounting, payroll, and tax documentation.
Maintaining accurate, organized, and confidential client records.

Requirements
2+ years of bookkeeping/accounting experience.




Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting and bookkeeping practices.
Experience with QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop.
Experience with Profile tax software.
Knowledge of T1, T2, HST, Payroll, WSIB, T4, T4A, and ROE.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Robust attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple clients.
Fluent Portuguese — essential.
Good English communication skills.

Assets
Experience in accounting or bookkeeping firm.
Experience preparing T1 and T2 returns independently.
Accounting/bookkeeping diploma or certification.
Experience with Canadian payroll and government portals.

Pay: From $18.00 per hour
