Wellington Foundry is a leading Canadian manufacturer of outdoor site furnishings, supplying municipalities, developers, and commercial clients across North America. We are expanding our design capabilities and are seeking a CAD Designer with strong SolidWorks expertise to support product development, manufacturing accuracy, and continuous improvement across our operations.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a hands-on manufacturing workplace and enjoys turning concepts into precise, production-ready designs.
Position Overview
The CAD Designer is responsible for producing accurate 2D and 3D models, updating existing drawings, and supporting fabrication, CNC machining, and assembly workflows. You will work closely with production teams to ensure all drawings are clear, manufacturable, and aligned with internal standards.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and revise SolidWorks models, assemblies, and detailed fabrication drawings
Update legacy drawings and standardize older files into current formats
Create accurate 2D drawings with complete dimensions, tolerances, and bill of materials
Maintain drafting standards, naming conventions, and revision control
Collaborate with CNC operators, welders, and production leads to resolve design questions
Support recent product development and continuous improvement initiatives
Assist with drafting templates, drawing standards, and file organization
Provide production-ready documentation for fabrication, machining, and assembly
Required Qualifications
2+ years of SolidWorks experience in a manufacturing, fabrication, or engineering environment
Strong understanding of fabrication drawings, assemblies, and manufacturing tolerances
Proficiency with weldments, sheet metal, configurations, and drawing detailing
Ability to interpret and produce accurate technical drawings
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Effective communication skills in English, both written and spoken
Ability to work collaboratively with production teams
Preferred Assets
Experience with CNC programming
Familiarity with metal fabrication processes (welding, machining, forming, CNC)
Experience with document control or structured file management
Experience with SketchUp (asset)
Schedule
Monday to Thursday: 06:30–15:30
Friday: 06:30–12:30
Pay: $28.00-$38.00 per hour
