The Respite Worker plays a crucial role in providing temporary relief to primary caregivers by supporting children and youth. This position is ideal for compassionate and dedicated individuals who are passionate about working with neurodivergent individuals and fostering a safe, structured, and engaging setting. Compassion is mandatory for this role.
Duties
Support children and youth in daily activities that promote independence, social engagement, and life skills.
Implement structured routines and strategies to support emotional regulation and behavioral goals.
Assist with meal preparation and provide supervision during mealtime.
Facilitate meaningful activities that encourage cognitive, sensory, motor skill development, and play skills.
Provide companionship, emotional support, and positive reinforcement.
Maintain a clean and safe setting in accordance with health and safety protocols.
Collaborate with families, therapists, and other professionals to ensure a consistent approach to care.
Accurately document daily activities,
progress, and any notable observations.
Qualifications
Experience working with children and youth is mandatory.
Post secondary education is preferred
Understanding of behavior management techniques and sensory regulation strategies is an asset.
Strong communication skills and the ability to foster trust and rapport with children and their families.
Compassionate, patient, and committed to providing high-quality support.
Ability to work in a team-oriented setting and follow structured care plans.
First Aid and a Criminal Record Check with a Vulnerable Sector Check are mandatory.
Access to a personal vehicle drivers license & clean driving abstract is mandatory
Job Types: Part-time, Casual
Pay: $22.00-$23.00 per hour
Expected hours: 4.0 – 15.0 per week
