WorkSafeBC situated in Burnaby is seeking applications for the job position of OHS Advisor who are enthusiastic and possess excellent interpersonal skills. The selected applicant must join and assume their responsibilities at the earliest. This is a full-time position.

The candidate will be responsible for promoting risk reduction, preventing occupational injuries and diseases, and examining compliance with applicable requirements of the WCA and OHSR.

The candidate will be responsible for engaging with stakeholders to develop and implement sustainable OHS practices, strengthen stakeholder capacity, and promote safety ownership and culture to improve workplace OHS knowledge, abilities, motivations, and behaviours.

The candidate will be responsible for analyzing health and safety risk assessments, delivering educational presentations, conducting consultation activities, and responding to information requests from stakeholders and Prevention Services teams.

The candidate will be responsible for collaborating with Prevention Officers and OHS Consultants to plan and conduct education, consultation, inspection, and other prevention activities.

The candidate will be responsible for conducting targeted analysis of various information sources to support the planning and delivery of employer consultations.

The candidate will be responsible for demonstrating WorkSafeBC’s expected organizational behaviours by acting in a responsive, respectful, fair, cooperative, accountable, and forward-thinking manner.





Job Requirements

The candidate must have a Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety.

The candidate must have a minimum of two (2) years of work experience, including at least one (1) year of Health and Safety (H&S;) experience.

The candidate must build effective relationships with stakeholders by demonstrating strong communication and interpersonal abilities.

The candidate will be required to work irregular business hours from Monday to Friday as part of the B shift schedule.

The candidate will be required to travel regularly, including local travel and overnight stays as needed for the role.

The candidate must hold an unrestricted BC Driver’s License and be able to drive as required for the position.

The candidate will be responsible for performing other related duties as assigned to support operational requirements.

Security and safety

The successful candidate will be required to provide consent for a criminal record check.

The candidate must confirm they are legally entitled to work in Canada.
