Enhance Indigenous education by becoming an Itinerant Ojibwe/Cree Language Support Instructor with the Louis Riel School Division. Work to shape cultural and language learning in schools.
This role requires expertise in Ojibwe or Cree and a background in working with Indigenous communities or organizations. A high school diploma or G.E.D. is needed, while related post-secondary education is a plus. You'll support the Indigenous Education team, fostering language and cultural development in classrooms across the district.
Key Responsibilities:
• Implement Ojibwe/Cree language programming in classrooms • Partner with educators to enrich cultural curriculum • Lead career development for teaching staff • Ensure traditional Indigenous teachings are incorporated • Build relationships with students and Indigenous communities
Requirements: • High school diploma or equivalent experience • Completion of Respect In School training • Previous engagement with Indigenous students required • Intermediate to bilingual fluency in Ojibwe or Cree • Background check, including use of the Child Abuse Registry
