Work at CBC/Radio-Canada

At CBC/Radio-Canada, we create content that informs, entertains and connects Canadians on multiple platforms. Our successes and accomplishments are driven by embodying and upholding values, which include creativity, integrity, inclusiveness and relevance.

Do you think you have the ability and drive to keep up with this exciting, ever-changing industry? Whether it be in front of the camera, on air, online or behind the scenes, you would be joining a team that thrives on making connections and telling stories that are important to Canadians.

CBC News has an exciting opportunity for a collaborative team player with strong editorial judgment, a good understanding of news audience needs, and a knowledge of digital publishing and evolving media platforms.

We're hiring a Producer of Client Relations to join our Video Distribution team. The role is to ensure our best-of visual journalism is reaching the widest available audience possible at home and around the world.

Under the guidance of the Executive Producer, you'll be overseeing key parts of our daily video inventory as part of our end-to-end distribution of visual content across multiple clients, formats, devices and platforms.

You’ll be identifying the strongest visuals to share with our external publishing partners, including the European Broadcasting Union, CBS, NBC, CNN and other key clients using our content. You'll answer requests from partners and provide outlooks so they can see what's coming.

You’ll work alongside others managing video across CBC News digital properties as we create one cohesive team managing our video together. That includes teams curating video for our news app and web, FAST channels, CBC linear channels, as well as third‑party platforms such as YouTube and Tik Tok.

You're a collaborator, who builds strong relationships with teams across CBC News and with our publishing partners. In this role, organization, communication, reliability and flexibility are key.

You are able to pivot quickly to turn breaking news into on-demand video and update as the story evolves. You ensure that content meets the high quality and editorial standards our partners expect from CBC News. An experienced journalist, you're comfortable making independent editorial decisions in accordance with CBC News Journalistic Standards and Practices.

You have experience using audience research and performance data to guide your editorial decisions, constantly looking for the story that moves audiences beyond discoverability and into actively engaging with and sharing CBC News video. You search for opportunities to reflect a broad range of perspectives and voices in the content we share.

You bring a distinctive life experience and expertise to the team. You care about the people you work with and have a deep appreciation for the values of diversity, inclusion and respect in the work culture.

As someone who embraces change, you are open to exploring current ideas and work processes to support shifting audience behaviour and emerging technologies.

You are willing to learn when things don’t go right and from others on your team.

This position requires you to be on-site at a CBC facility. It's a Monday-Friday work week. The scheduled hours will be determined based on production needs to support a 24/7 video distribution service. With clients around the world, the hours will likely include early mornings, late evenings and some overtime.

Core responsibilities include:

- Publish relevant CBC News video to our internal tool, MediaBeach, for pickup by external media clients in Europe, USA and Canada.
- Act as a daily liaison and maintain relationships with counterparts across CBC News and with media clients.
- Handle requests for raw and packaged content from external clients.
- Verify and clear usage rights for distributing and publishing video content online.

- Co-ordinate with local regions identifying best-of Canadian content for international audiences.
- Populate and maintain outlooks identifying priority video content, creating a menu of available video for clients to choose from.
