Job Title: Payroll Administrator
Reports to: Financial Controller
Status: Full time, permanent
Location: Edmonton Office (On-site)
Salary: $80,000 to $90,000
What the Job Is:
This position is responsible for the processing of the overall payroll function and the administration of benefits.
What You Will Be Doing:
Process bi-weekly payroll for both hourly and salaried employees. This involves preparing, verifying, and issuing payments for regular pay, advantages, bonuses, vacation, and reimbursements.
Generate statements of earnings, ensuring all deductions are accurate. Deductions may include taxes, union dues, garnishments, and insurance premiums.
Maintain and update employee information within the payroll system to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Review, reconcile and remit source deductions as required. Prepare garnishments according to federal or provincial court orders.
File and organize payroll time slips and employee records to maintain thorough documentation.
Complete payroll filings, including T4s, T2200s, ROEs, and other necessary documentation. File quarterly and annual returns for WorkSafe BC and Alberta WCB.
Respond to payroll inquiries and resolve any discrepancies related to payroll data or timesheets.
Prepare bi-weekly payroll allocations and monthly accrual entries for accurate financial reporting. Policy and Procedure Support
Support the development and implementation of payroll policies and procedures as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of payroll administration.
Who You Are:
2-year Accounting Diploma or equivalent payroll/accounting experience
Robust interpersonal, collaboration, and communication skills
Excellent organization, problem-solving, and attention to detail
Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple priorities
Commitment to customer service, professionalism, and discretion
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Teams, and Outlook
PCP certification and Business Central Primo experience are assets
Able to maintain confidentiality and ensure accuracy
