We are seeking a passionate and skilled Developmental Services Worker (DSW) to join our team in Brampton, ON. In this role, you will provide direct support to individuals with developmental disabilities, helping them reach their full potential, facilitate community integration, and enhance their overall quality of life. You will be instrumental in creating a supportive and inclusive workplace that promotes personal development and independence.
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct support to individuals with developmental disabilities, assisting with daily living activities
Implement individualized support plans, tailored to each clients unique needs, goals, and preferences
Facilitate skill development in areas such as communication, social interaction, and daily living skills
Encourage and support clients in participating in community activities, including recreational and social events, to ensure their full engagement and inclusion
Monitor and document client progress, noting any changes in behavior, health, or goals, and report concerns to the appropriate team members or supervisors
Collaborate with families, healthcare professionals,
and other support staff to ensure comprehensive care and effective service delivery
Follow safety protocols and adhere to best practices, ensuring a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for clients
Requirements:
Education: Diploma or degree in Developmental Services, Social Services, Psychology, or a related field
Certification: First Aid and CPR certification (mandatory), Vulnerable Sector Check (mandatory), Crisis Prevention and Intervention Training (mandatory), UMAB certification required
Solid understanding of developmental disabilities and person-centered care practices
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with clients and their families
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
Patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to improving the lives of others
Additional Requirements: Valid drivers license and reliable transportation (if applicable), availability to work flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends
