As a Life Events Specialist, you will play a key role as the team's subject matter expert in the processing of complex cases involving, among other things, deaths, separations, bankruptcies, and decumulation products.
What You Will Accomplish with Us Act as the team's subject matter expert in complex situations arising from daily activities described in the administrator role, leveraging in-depth knowledge of provincial laws and their application to deaths, separations, bankruptcies, and decumulation products;
Perform account corrections, analyze required actions, reconcile tax accounts, and amend tax slips;
Handle escalations resulting from delays, errors, or disputes related to completed analyses professionally and within required timelines, and consult the Legal team when necessary;
Analyze the sequence of events in order to determine the appropriate corrective actions;
Analyze legislative changes, modify procedures to ensure compliance with new requirements, and implement process changes within the team, particularly through training and documentation updates;
Manually calculate fund returns in order to produce the appropriate tax slips in death-related cases involving Tax-Free Savings Accounts and non-registered accounts;
Conduct peer reviews of complex financial transactions;
Ensure the remittance of unclaimed property by analyzing accounts in the system to determine, in accordance with applicable provincial legislation, whether funds must be remitted to the government;
Manage team tasks conducted as projects, particularly those related to unclaimed property and age 71 requirements, while adhering to strict deadlines and processes that vary according to plan types and applicable legislation;
Support team members in processing their transactions, provide feedback regarding errors, and collaborate with them to identify solutions to recurring issues;
Collaborate with internal partners to resolve issues and propose solutions focused on client needs for ongoing situations;
Oversee workflow to ensure the team meets deadlines, remove obstacles, and delegate work to team members as needed,
while escalating situations to management when required.
What Could Accelerate Your Success in This Role Has in-depth knowledge of group savings and retirement products, as well as applicable legislation;
Has three to five years of relevant experience;
Holds a college diploma in a relevant field;
Is recognized for their empathy, attention to detail, and ability to communicate effectively;
Demonstrates strong analytical skills;
Intermediate level of English language proficiency required, as the incumbent will be required to understand and process information, files, and communications in English promptly with English-speaking internal and external partners on a daily basis.

The typical hiring range for this position is between $66,000 and $70,000; the base salary may vary depending on knowledge, skills, years of experience, and internal equity.
